Seeking TriCare Info

A friend of mine is considering WLS, probably the sleeve but that is not for certain. She is covered under Tricare. Does anyone know which procedures Tricare covers and which surgeons or programs they use in the local area???

Whatever you do is it truthful, necessary and kind?

Tricare does not cover the sleeve. They cover lapband CPT43770 & RNY CPT43846 as well as revision of RNY CPT43848.
Generally if your BMI is 40 and you have any comorbid condition Tricare covers it. Even with a BMI 35-40 they look at your medical hx. They approval process for Tricare is pretty quick and painless. IMHO!
I know that Dr Schlesinger takes Tricare. Not sure who else does.

Your friend is lucky to have you helping her!! She can always check with Tricare to see what she needs.

Thanks that is pretty much what I thought. I will tell her that. I was hoping they might cover the DS done in 2 parts so she could get the sleeve cause that is what she is leaning towards. She is going to check with Tricare but I was just priming the pump so to speak.
