JULY 8th!!!!  YAY YAY YAY... I am so excited.. I have decided to stick with Dr. Blackstone as I know she is a great doctor and I feel more comfortable with her... I am very excited..  I have a question for you guys.. I called my mom and other people today to tell them the good news and everyone was so excited for me.. Except one thing.. When I called my best friend and told her, she said well I am excited for you, but you know its really easy to gain all the weight back.. I told her that if you dont follow the program then I guess so.. But if you follow it and do what you are supposed to it wont happen.. She said yeah she guesses so.. Here is my problem.. Everytime I try to tell her something about this she brings up something negative.. For example when I told her I was approved she told me this is the easy way out to lose weight, and now today.. This really hurts my feelings and almost takes my excitment away.. I dont get it.. Why cant she be supportive of me?  Well anyway I am still excited and I know I have all of your support and that means the world to me!!  I am getting close!  Now how do I add one of those nifty tickers on the bottom.. I finally have something to add on it!!  LOL

Woooooooooooo Hooooooooooo! Cindy!  Congratulations to you cutie patootie! .....Just hang with us and give the "best girlfriend" the Bambi pow wow....y'know..."if you can't say anything nice"....then nip it in the bud!!!!  .....Walk away from negative!  .....  You should NOT have to defend your very researched and educated PERSONAL decision!  .....  Nay sayers can be handed an O.H. business card and simply told to go do their homework! Be happy!  Start sorting out your closet and getting the tight things ready to wear for the first 5 minutes as a post-op and get the big stuff packed up  so there's space for those clothes that will be 5 sizes smaller!!!!  You can use this time to clean out your pantry, sample proteins, ditch your caffeinated sodas so you don't have migraines during your recovery, and WALK so you have the safest possible surgery!  Attend support groups and valley get together's so you have a huge support network and more info than you'll know what to do with!  July 8th is a GREAT day to cross over to the skinny & healthy side of life!!!!

yyyyyyyyyyeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!  SO happy for you.  I can be diplomatic here and say handle her with grace and be politically correct but I have someone like that around me to and what shut them up immediately was basically making them feel stupid for being negative. ha ha.  Bad Lynsey I know but trying to "educate" them didn't make them let off.  I would just say something like, "there is negative in everything if you are looking for it.  I am really just wanting positive in my life right now."  Whatever you say, say something that is quick, to the point and nothing she can argue back with.  Another, "  honestly, I am not really sure you are very informed on the facts, they are different than the myths."  You know, something to that affect.  I can go on all day long. ahahahahahahahaha

LOL!!!  I love it.. Thats exactly what i was thinking about saying... I am not letting anyone's ideas, perceptions, or disbelief in me have an impact on my excitement at this time.. no one knows what we go through unless they have been there for themselves..

Congrats on your surgery date!  It will be here before you know it!!! As for your best friend, one of mine did the same thing.  She was the last person I told, 1 month before my surgery because I knew the lack of support she would provide.  She said the same type of things when I thought about it years ago, death risk, weight gain, complications, etc.  She is obese herself and from what I hear thinking about having the surgery too, but would never ever admit it to me.   For her I think its a crutch... her way of saying I can do it on my own... but she hasn't and she has DVT and lot of other complications due to her high weight.  Some of my other friends think its jealousy, whatever it is... she is my friend and thats all I want from her.  I do not need her to be a critic.  Our friendship has changed since I dropped alot of weight, I guess she doesn't like my self confidence, I have a boyfriend now, I do things she can't do... and they say that friendships change after WLS and it's true. A great book to get while you are waiting for surgery...  Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies.  I got it off of Amazon.com  I would definately buy it.  It's worth it. Congrats again! ~Nicole

Woo! Hoo! for you getting your date.  Keep a positive attitutde that you can and will do it and you will. As for the naysayers. One of my best friends was negative as well, even with scrunched up faces, etc.  I said I had researched it and was happy for MYSELF.    She did not call me until last night - 1.5 weeks after my surgery.  I told her very little about it and will prob. not share much in the future.  Although she lost a lot of weight with WW and is still doing pretty good with it, I could tell by some of the things she said she would be envious if I were thinner than she was. I wonder if that is not the problem with others who are negative. So, if you want to keep this friend, I would not discuss anything with her relating to your surgery and efforts - and Yes, it will still take effort.  If she wants to discuss and continues to be negative, I would just refuse to discuss with her anymore and tell her why.  You need encouragement! GOOD LUCK!
