I'm a newbie with a date - 4/28 - with Drs. Aldridge/Berger in Flagstaff. Any experiences to enlighten me?

I am....I will be 2 years post-op in July.  I'm also the Dept Secretary at Flagstaff Medical Center's Bariatric Clinic.  Have I met you yet?

You most likely know me. I am Monique. I saw Dr. Herring from August-January. Ring a bell?

Thanks! I'm a little concerned about the first few weeks post-op diet. The handout says to eat a large yogurt meal, 6 oz I think. If my remaining stomach pouch is only 1-2 oz, how does hat work?

You won't eat it all at one sitting, take your time and over a few hours and you will eventually get it down.

Hey there! Don't stress over liquids or yogurt that exceeds your teeny tiny pouch size.  Fluids zip right through the pouch mostly (newbie swollen pouches can be the exception)....and yogurt or other "slider" foods slip on through as well.  That's one of the reasons that as you progress and heal that yoiu won't want to drink during or after eating your solids.  Otherwise, the healthy lean solid foods just become mush (yogurt texture) and slide on through.  When that happens, you are left feeling "empty" and want to nibble again.  Soooooooooo.....just a little heads up on why this stage you are in is important to healing but that in the future you won't want to rely on the liquids and sliders. Don't force anything....just take a tiny taste of that yogurt ...one baby spoon full at a time!  You'll be able to get extra your nutrition through your protein drink supplements! Baby Steps towards a healthier YOU!

Thanks much ladies.  On the subject of baby spoons, I have purchased a really nice set of baby silverware, (a fork and two spoons) at  Dillards. I also scored a couple fine china plates, one platinum and one gold rimmed, (on the clearance table) that I think are meant to be bread and butter plates, but are no larger than 3 inches in diameter. I intend to make eating a fine dining experience! I also got a mini blender for my protein shakes and a mini food processor that will puree and chop, etc, for making my own baby/transitional food. I've always tried to stick with organic produce, etc., so this way I won't have to buy processed, salted, "preservatived" baby foods. I read in a magazine article that ice-cube tray sections hold about an ounce, so I bought a few of those to freeze small batches in so that I can pop them out as needed.  Looking forward to getting on the Losers' Bench!

You definitely are going about this the right way and fun way it sounds!!!!  Sounds like it's going to be a fun dining experience at your house for sure.

Thanks! Sometimes it feels like I'm diving into the deep end without knowing how to swim!
