Hello everyone, I need to find a new pcp.  The place I go to is really not WLS friendly.  They aren't patient friendly either.   Does anyone have a PCP in the Peoria area that is knowledgable with our needs as well as the needs of someone suffering from psoriatic arthritis? Thank you in advance!

Hi Randi: I just read the email you sent me. I'm sorry to hear you are suffering from psoriatic arthritis. Personally I don't have the best primary doctor so there is no one I can recommend. He's alright but I think this year will be looking for someone new. I hope someone on the board can help you Besides that I can tell you have lost a lot of weight. Looking great.    Pam

I don't know if you want to drive or not, but I have an amazing PCP in Tempe.  She is at Baseline and the 101.  She is wl friendly, not sure about WLS as I haven't actually talked to her about it.  I am getting a band the end of Jan. first of Feb., but haven't talk with her much about it. She really takes her time with you.  To me, even if I moved within an hour or so, I would still drive in to see she.  If you would like me to send you her website info and phone number, please let me know.  Her name is Kim Lucas.  I have had Fibro for 5 years and no one was able to dx what was wrong with me until I saw Dr. Lucas, she also has a massage Therapy on staff (which is amazing), and the staff in her office is very nice and friendly and they call you back right away. I know what is like to have a bad doctor, I have been through tons of them before I found Dr. Lucas.  I honestly repect and love her to death.   Kim Pervez

I see Dr. Connie Abarikwu over on 40th Street and Bell.  She has been my PCP for about 8 years now.  I love her.  She is extremely supportive and pro-WLS.   Constantia A. Abarikwu MD  4045 E Bell Rd Ste 103  Phoenix Arizona 85032-2237  Phone: 602-996-4790

You might consider Dwight Clarke, M.D. He is a relatively young doctor and I found him to be very caring and he is knowledgeable. He was my aunts doctor until she was admitted to a care center. If I were in need of a new PCP Dr Clarke would be the one for me. His office is at 14800 W. Mountain View Blvd Ste 230 in Surprise. Off of Grand at "about" Meeker and Grand. Phone number 623-815-2900. I am quite sure he could help with the arthritis also. Good luck!

I would suggest Joel Edelstein. He is located next to PV hospital, His brother has a weight loss practice in the same office so they are pretty saavy about weight loss. I think his brother does the 6 mo program for WLS but that is private pay for that program. Joel Edelstein has a normal internal medicine practice. About 5 months after my WLS I started gaining weight on 700 calories a day. I was exercising and following all the rules. I went to my surgeon in tears, he referred me to Dr Edelstein and he did all the labs and exam and my thyroid was low normal, but normal. He started me on a low dose of thyroid and everything turned around. I travel from Mesa to PV once a year to see him. Good Luck Moira

Thank you for your response.  I have already had my surgery.  I just need someone who cares because the place I go to now doesn't believe in listening to the patient when they explain repeatedly that they are allergic to a certain medicine or they fail to refer someone to a specialist when it is clear they are at a loss. I will be going to a doctor named Palnati.  I have a friend who sees him and he is very caring and actually listens to his patients. Thank you anyway

Thank you to everyone who has replied.  I think there are a few of you who think I am looking to have a PCP for the purpose of being referred to weight loss surgery.   I have had my surgery, and my current PCP doesn't give a rat's behind about me since one of the doctors knowingly prescribed a medication I told him I was allergic to.  I have also had to do my own research on my condition because no one at No Appointment MD had the brains to read my chart.  I need someone who will actually listen to me when I tell them what's going on. I will be seeing a doctor named Palnati who is also my friend's doctor. Thank you again for your responses.
