Tailbone Pain

I have posted about this before and have read posts so I thought I would update on myself and what is going on.  I had an Xray last week on my tailbone and pelvis.  I have a great deal of pain quite often when sitting.  I got a call today from the PCP's office saying I should get an MRI.  My first thought was that I need to talk to my PCP to find out why he is sending me for an MRI.  Any thoughts on this?  Just curious.

I also have pain in my tailbone.  From what I've read, this is very common since we don't have the padding we used to have back there.  At the OH seminar in Detroit, there were questions of the plastic surgeon about putting some fat back in that's suctioned out during a tummy tuck.  He said this was pretty common but it doesn't last.  I just sit on a pillow when I have to sit for a long period of time.

I have terrible tail bone pain also. I just had a lower body lift last week and that seems to have eased the tailbone pain a bit. My PCP doctor wants to send me to some kind of specialist after I heal from my plastic surgery, cuz it is SO painful, I can totally feel for you. I think since i got the buttock lift, it has helped somehow, unless it is all of the drugs.

X-rays are truly single dimensional.  Since you are in so much discomfort, there may be an area on the x-rays that aren't clear or didn't show the entire pelvis well.  An MRI on the other hand, adds the other dimensions and gives a very clear picture of what is or isn't in your pelvis.  If you have claustrophobia, ask them to do the MRI in an open scanner!  Believe me, I know from personal experience.  Your doctor sounds like he is trying to get to whatever the source of the pain is for you.   Good luck.

Just had to write about my husband and his tailbone pain,  He went months thinking he had bruised it or something and couldn't figure out when and it turned out he had an ingrown hair on his tailbone............  Go figure, they do say we're from the APE family!  LOL  Just had to tell you the story, he had it removed and all is well!  I'm liking the LACK OF CUSHION responce!  :)  great Day!

All I know at this point is that there were some abnormalities on my Xray's I had taken last week so my doctor wants me to have an MRI.

I just got back from a trip to Texas.  I am so glad I took the air bladder my wife sometimes uses on her motorcycle.  I have really bad tail bone pain also.  I get it just driving around Phoenix for extended periods.  I think it will take us a while to adjust to our weight loss and for our bodies to adjust to sitting when we used to have padding. Take care

I appreciate everyone's responses so far.  I will have my MRI sometime within the next couple of weeks and then I will know for sure if it is just lack of padding.
