Pre-Op Diet - Starts tomorrow!!

Ok - so my pre-op liquid diet starts tomorrow. I drove all the way to Super Target in Gilbert (I live in Phoenix) to be able to buy the groceries I need (I had a giftcard I needed to use). I got the SF Jello, SF Pudding, SF Carnations Instant breakfast, SF General Foods international Decaf coffee mix, crystal light, a bag of skinless/boneless chicken, a tub of NF plain yogurt, eggbeaters, and NF Milk. I got my magic bullet the other day ($39 at Linen's and Things on sale-$49 - 20% coupon I had). Man I hope I'm ready!

It going to be difficult to figure this out for work - I figure I'll boil some chicken tonight and bring that to work tomorrow. I was going to bring my magic bullet too so I can make a shake or two while I'm there. I guess I'll just bring the ingrediants in a seperate container. Man - tomorrow should be fun. .... NOT!!!


Anyone have any ideas for on the go protein shakes that maybe I can buy at the store while I'm out and about??

Congrats on your upcoming surgery. I get surgery on august 6th. For on the go I use the Adkins Advantage pre made shakes. The surgeon said they were okay and don't taste bad. I start my liquid diet on tuesday night so my last dinner is tomorrow. Well good luck on this journey. I told my whole family to stay away from me cause I will be cranky.LOL Talk with you soon. I agree with Cutie!  Adkins are great they taste good and are lower in calories.  Weigh****chers makes a shake as well, and anyone can buy from their stores.  Wal mart has a brand as well. The powder ones, so far syntrax brand has tasted the best.  IF you go to Nutrition warehouse, you can buy sample packets to try flavors and see what works befor eyou buy a jug.  I hear they give discounts if you tell them you are a WLS person!  Good Luck!!

I am using the Ensure drinks.  They taste ok. Today was my first day b ack at work and I am still on liquid diet, boy was it tuff.  I am so hungry I could eat the paint off the walls. But looking forward to Wednesday when I can start on soft foods.  Hoorayyyyyyyy

yogert, eggbeaters and chicken are on a liguid diet????  I start mine in 2 week, sooo confused

Judi B - I'm soooo sorry you are confused. I have had alot of confusion with my surgeon's office over the last month or so. I am getting the LapBand procedure done. I am going to the Weight Loss Institute of AZ in Tempe. My nutritionist said that I can eat skinless bonless chicken as well as egg beaters. I can also eat sugarfree jello and pudding. I think the main thing is to have sugarless items and lots of protein. The protein powder my office gave me is really gross and makes a normally liquid shake become a pudding shake! It's really gross. I am going to call into the office and complain and hopfully get my money back (I bought a box of it at $120!). I bought some protein drinks at the health store today and last night - making sure there was not "sugar" listed in the ingrediants.

Judi - I would suggest you call your nutritionist and tell them you are confused and ask for help. I know sometimes the offices seem really busy- but you have to reach out and get the help you need.

Its so funny to read blogs from people starting the journey!!  I am 5mths out and have lost 63lbs, I FEEL WONDERFULL and haven't felt this great in years!  It is still hard work on our part because of our minds.... the mind is a battle in itself, but I tell you I just got back from a weeks vacation in California and really did go off the wagon with food choices and thought for sure it would be the first time in 20weeks that I gained and I still lost ONE pound???????? Thank you BAND!  Just  have to make sure I dont let myself go now, that taste of junk food was sweet........ Sick isnt it.... But anyway I was laughing about your shopping list, do you know that my SF jello is still in te closet! GROSS ME OUT!!  That stuff is bad.....  I  am very stickler for taste, since I can't eat alot I sure do want it to taste good..  SF Pudding YUM YUM and good calcium too, the protein drink I use is Muscle Milk, it is high in calories, but suure does fill me up and give me my chochlate fix for the day!  I did find a liquid protein at Cosco's that erally wasn't bad, I just add it to my liquid vitamins and shoot it down!!  Sounds like your doign all the right stuff, just be carefull shopping cause I know I spent a ton on stuff that is still in my closet.........  GOOD LUCK and keep us posted, if you check out my profile you can see pictures from surgery and fills.....  I WARN YOU though their not pretty!!
