He say's the PH reading that came up on my echocardiogram (this was the 3rd one) is tecnically a secondary condition to sleep apnea. I am going in for another sleep study to be fitted for one of the CPAP machines to get the sleep apnea under control. Also with weight loss the condition will probably go away or be at least much reduced. It's so slight I don't even need any medication. I'm so glad I had this appointment today as going on the internet to find out about pulmonary hypertention doesn't sound too good. There are a lot of factor's that come into play to determine how serious it is: and I still think I should have never been told about this by a clerical person where the echocardiogram was done. Even the technician that administered the test wouldn't tell me the results and she was a lot more qualified than the person who gave out the results. She couldn't even hardly say it or pronounce the doctor's name that she faxed off the results to. There's something wrong with that part of the process, I was thinking all sorts of things, the mind goes to worst case scenerio. On the web it talks about how your life expectancy is greatly diminished with certain types of this condition, like 5 to 7 years from diagnosis. So you can imagine some of the panic I felt, and the relief after my visit today with my doctor who is an expert in the field. Thank God for specialists! He see's no reason I can't go forward with WLS, so I am definately happy. CaroleM

I am so glad you can continue with your surgery date. Yeah I have a little bit of Apnea, no c-pap though. I meet Dr. Blackstone for the 1st time tommorrow. I am more nervous about meeting her than the surgery itself. I went to the pre-op class, very informative, you'll love it. Best of luck to you Carole Erin

I'm so glad you finally have received good news. I second the "thank God" for a specialist. When I saw my primary he found a "spot" on my lungs. I also flunked a lung clearance with him twice. I went to see a specialist. I was so nervous I thought even cancer. It turned out to be a little scar tissue nothing more. Plus I passed the pulmonary clearance with flying colors. A specialist may cost a little more but they are well worth the time and money. Once again Carol I'm so happy you finally have gotten some good news. Now you can enjoy the holidays.
