Hi Everyone! I just spoke with Nicole's Mom Alice and she said that her surgery went well. She said she was in surgery for an hour and 15 minutes. She said that she did a breathing treatment after and is now sleeping. They said that they would get her up at 6:30 to start walking. just wanted to update everyone that Nicole's surgery went great. I will be visiting her tomorrow. So if you want to sign her surgery page with well wishes. I will print it and take it to the hospital with me. Welcome to the losing side Nicole! Yippee!!! Melissa

So glad to hear things went well. I'd like to hear more about the breathing, that's what I seem to be having a problem with. Did they keep her longer in the hospital? Be sure and let her know Steve and I were asking about her. We were in pre-op class together Oct. 4th. Give her our best wishes for a speedy return to being back on her feet. Carole and Steve M.

Hi Carole, I was wondering, what sort of breathing problems you are having. I have asthma and it seems this weather change, which I love has caused some breathing problems for me lately, I suspect there is more blooming going on. The respitory person I saw said to make sure to ask my surgeon for a breathing treatment for before and after surgery. Thanks

Hi Linda, I was referred to a pulmonary specialist in Scottsdale who is trying to confirm a diagnosis of pulmonary hyertension. After my cardiac testing they discovered the right side of my heart is enlarged. The cardiac people pretty much thought it was due to sleep apnea. Then they insisted I see a pulmonary specialist. Mainly because I have a chronic cough. One of the first tests they do is to check your blood oxygen level. Mine is in the low to mid 60's. The little breathing meter they give us at pre-op shows my breathing in the lower 1/4 of the meter. I just can't take a deep breath in. It's like something is keeping that from happening. I get pretty much out of breath doing some pretty routine things, like making a bed, walking very far, even walking around my office. My BMI is about 41 and if you met me you wouldn't think I had that much weight to loose, but I do, it just is compacted a little tighter! I have more testing to do, and now I've been told until I go through some more tests, he's not clearing me for the surgery I'm scheduled for on the 29th. You sound like yours are mainly allergy related, watch your symptons closely, I started with allergy and since moving here to AZ it's developed into this. If your blood oxygen level is pretty good you should have no problems, you would know by now if you had any breathing conditions that would cause any concern. Good Luck with yours. Carole

Thanks Carole, and the same is true for me, since moving to AZ almost 4 years ago, I have gotten progressively worse. I take tons of meds, and am looking forward to getting off some of them. My blood oxygen levels are ok, as far as I know. I have been so ill since moving here, and have divorced because I just "lost" all my energy, and yeah, cause he was a a**. I hope all goes well for you.

Hi Carole, I have had asthma since I was 4 years old and it can be triggered by pretty much anything... so I asked for breathing treatments before I went in for surgery and then throughout my stay. I had to stay an extra day because my white blood cell count was a bit high and they wanted to make sure I didnt have anything in my lungs. Also... I couldnt urinate on my own. the anesthesia took a bit longer to work thru that part of my body... but I was fine after yesterday and was peeing like a race horse! You surgery is coming soon... it's all so exciting. I was not nervous at all... and it all went so much smoother that way! ~Nicole
