New here and I have a question

I had thyroid cancer almost 6 years ago. I had my thyroids removed. I gained alot of weight before the removal. Will that interfere with loosing weight with the Lap Band? I am considering having this surgery and wanted to find that out before I go through with this.

That's a great question for your doctor to answer. I personally would think not ! since it's calorie restriction .. The less you eat , you should loose .

Hi. It is good to see others considering the LAPband. To my knowledge, having your thyroid removed will not affect the lab band. However, it can be more difficult to take medications. If you have really big pills, you might need to cut them, or crush them, or take them in liquid form. There is a LAP band forum here too... or you can go to the Yahoo group AZBandsters if you want to meet up with more people who have the band.
