I have had surgery abut 8 years ago, everything was fine for several years and now I have gone back to being my old self I have gain almost off of my weight back and I'm eating and purging everyday. Does anyone know if they can do an additional surgery? I sound so pathetic...has anyone ever heard of having to have the surgery twice?

Not to be nasty or mean...but you probably need to seek the help of a therapist. Unless you have a medical failure, I doubt if any Dr. will do another procedure on you. My opinion. Sandy Dr. Fang 11/04/04

Hi Sandy, Just to let you know since I have been on this site I have found out that there are thousands of people that have experienced the same thing that I'm going through. There is actually a support group on this site for people that need revisions. Just thought you would like to know.

Best thing is to call a bariatric doctor . I went to a support group at Scottsdale Bariatric last night and there was a woman there who is having a revision done after 6 yrs and the same problem. it all depends on what they see! ( thats what was explained to us lastnight ) Plus the surgery today is very differant from 8 yrs ago . Dr Blackstones offie number is 480 391-3885 - She did my surgery last month - very happy with her and her practice ... there are a lot of other great doc's out there, Good Luck !!

Ahhhhhh Sandi, You are NOT pathetic! It just sounds like you are desperately out of control and have taken this first positive step! Good for you for being honest and telling us the truth!......Before you beat yourself up totally though; how about getting yourself to a great Bariatric doc and checking out your old surgery to see if there is even any restriction left. I'm sure folks can recommend "their" surgeon of choice to you but your first stop might need to be to a gastrointinologist to be scoped completely. There is a Graduate Revision support board that I belong to (I'm getting my failed surgery tweaked as well) and there are thousands of people who have had issues with their surgery. Surgeon's aren't perfect. Our bodies response is not always perfect. Our brains are definitely not perfect.....Soooooo....that often adds up to some internal damage that needs to be fixed. IF you'd like me to give you some recommendations of docs who do revisions; then give me a call at my office (I work for Dr. Terry Simpson who does Lap Band....he does a few revisions but usually sends Rny's elesewhere)....and I can give you some numbers of gstrointenologists and/or bariatric surgeon's. 602- 234-8995. Before you do any more of that purging stuff though; you might want to seek some "head" help my friend. .......Of course you know how dangerous purging is and don't need any of us to tell you anything new in that regard. I can give you names of good Eating Disorder specialists as well. Good luck and take care of YOU! Joyce
