Topic: What are you eating, or....rowing the same boat
Hey guys!

As you might know, I've very active on the Over 50 Forum where there are more of us to count who are 2+ years out and maybe seeing some complacency in our eating. So many, in fact, that we've decided we're not in the same boat, but on a barge! But the good news is that we're all rowing together.

SO.....Who's with us??? There's plenty of room for everyone, newbies and veterans alike.

Now, here's the thing. We might offer suggestions to your posted menu, and it might be a little more honest than what you'd like to hear. Trust that it's not meant to be mean, but helpful. If you're just being plain old stupid, we might tell you that, but promise we'll add a hug along with it. ...LOL None of us are perfect, God knows I'm not, never will be, so please, let's get the new year started and see if we can help each other.

Today's plan:

latte --SF, 1% milk

B-  bkfst burrito made with turkey breakfast sausage, eggbeaters on a whole wheat carb balance tortilla

S--orange w/ 11 almonds

L--shrimp coctail

S--cottage cheese w/ homemade applesauce

D--great northern beans made without ham hock, just diced lean ham

S- another latte

S-  1/2 c applesauce w/ cool whip free

ROW, ROW, ROW YOUR BOAT

You can do Special K protein water.

You could also do the pre-mixed isopure which doesn't even really taste like a protein drink - more like just a fruit flavored drink or something.

You could also try adding LESS of a particular protein.  There is no rule that says you HAVE to add a whole scoop just because that's what the tub says to do on it.  Most scoops are around 2 tablespoons.  Try using a measuring spoon to measure out 1 tablespoon.  (If you want the nutrition facts, measure out a level tablespoon and weigh the contents in grams on an electric scale.  Do that a few times and average how many grams the "average" level tablespoon of protein powder weighs.  Then pro-rate the nutrition facts according to how many grams an average tablespoon weighs and only use a tablespoon of the protein powder instead of an entire scoop.  You may find that you tolerate it better if there isn't so much of it to tolerate.

You could also forget protein powders all together and add something like powdered egg whites (available at any grocery store) to brothe or milk, etc.  There is also non-fat powdered milk that can be used the same way.  (The sugars in this are natural milk sugar, but still wouldn't do too much in excess.)

Don't give up.  Your tastes may radically change.  So just because you don't care for one or tolerate it well today doesn't mean you won't in 6 months.  (And vise versa.)

Hope that helps.

It's not so much the insurance company as what POLICY the company she works for buys.

I had Health Advantage BCBS and they covered everything for my surgery except my upgrade to a private room.  (I paid $72 total for my entire surgery start to finish and that included the un-covered $50 private room upgrade charge back when BMC wasn't private room exclusive.)

I prefer the Body Fortress Whey Protein powder that comes in the tubs at Wall Mart.  It dissolves in hot liquids without clumping and is good with skim milk or coffee.  I combine the vanilla powder with some crystal ligh****er, and a little ice in the Magic bullet for a cold drink too.  The strawberry crystal light and vanilla protein powder are my favorites.  I use the cookies - n - cream flavor in my coffee every day.  It's my favorite.

If you got rid of most of those nuts, you'd drop about 46 grams of fat from one day's totals.

vitalady.com has some samples you can buy for $2 each.  I have used Nectar by Syntrax for over three years. The Fuzzy Navel flavor is the only one I drink. It mixes with water, 90 cals, no carbs and 28 grams of protein. This company has lots of different flavors and they're all like Tang or Chrystal Lite. You might want to call them as the names of the drinks don't have anything to do with what flavors they are. Like Fuzzy Navel. it says it's peach, even shows a pic of a peach on the can, but it really is more orange flavor.

Good luck!

I've wondered about the coffee too.  Thats what I get on My Fitness Pal though.  It's a good idea about the vegetables.  I don't get enough of them in anyway.  I did a little better today.  I'm fixing to go do at least 30 min on Wii while I watch the history channel with the hubby.  I'm grateful for you all.  I feel like you're best friends and I've hardly met any of you in person, lol.  I love ya'll too!!!

Lol.  There's a lot healthier ways to do it.  I could easily become a nut junkie.  I plan to quit buying them altogether.  Bad nuts!!!!!!!

Tell me about it!  That's why I'm running scared right now.  I don't want to start backsliding especially this early out.  I don't ever want to be as miserable as I was at 315 lbs. ever again.
