I went to Drug Emporium to replenish my stash tonight and dropped quite a bit of dough on various supplements. Now that I'm up to taking a full pill bottle in the morning and evening, I thought I'd check with the rest of you to see what you're taking!
As of today, I'm on
Morning:
1 chewable adult multivitamin
2 calcium citrate (630 mg)
1 magnesium (400 mg)
1 sublingual D3 (10,000 IU)
1 sublingual B12 (2500 mcg)
1 B complex
1 dry Vit E (400 IU)
1 vitamin C chewable (500 mg)
3 glucosamine/chondroitin (1500/1200) <- for my knees, since I'm a runner
1 MSM (1000) <- also for my knees
Evening:
1 chewable adult multivitamin
2 calcium citrate (630 mg)
1 magnesium (400 mg)
1 sublingual B12 (2500 mcg)
1 B complex
1 vitamin C chewable (500 mg)
1 zinc (50 mg chelated)
1 vit A (10,000 IU)
3 glucosamine/chondroitin (1500/1200)
1 MSM (1000)
Lots of stuff, huh? I am only concerned about the A and E; experts, is it really probable we can achieve a toxic level of a vitamin? Would it be safer to err on the side of caution in our case? Malnutrition is the only thing that really scares me about RNY at this point... I don't want to fall apart when I'm 40.
So, what do YOU take?
Stop the wine right now!!! Do I NEED to come give you a swift kick in the arse?
Susan
You're sweet to worry. Yeah, things aren't really great, though they appear they should improve soon. I'm just not built to live this unpredictably!
I talked to Megan's therapist about counseling. There's only so much medication and exercise can do for me, I'm angry all the time. She gave me a referral across the suite since Megan and I agreed it would be weird for us to both see her, ha ha! However, the dad-gum insurance copays doubled to $40 per visit on 1/1 so I'm scared I'll go and be told I need to return every week, I can barely afford once per month right now... I'd rather spend the money on Megan's therapy.
So yeah, I'm hanging in there by a thread. My doc changed my meds a little bit since I'm still having panic attacks, gosh, what a mess I am. Fortunately they are super cheap! Wine can be cheap, too. :P
Hey, coffee's not too expensive. We all need another 'Bux run.
My latest "kick" is home made chunky applesauce. I put it over a 1/4 c cottage cheese.....YUMMMMMOOOOOOOOOO. I have a pot of it on the stove right now. I go through about 12 lbs of apples a week, with Gary's occasional help, of course.
Glad to see you back on the running trail. You need that stress relief. I was a little concerned about you at the meeting the other night. Is everything okay?
Let me know. I worry about everyone. It's just what I do!

Things are busy here. Wrangling kids and added job responsibility leave little time for the interwebs anymore. I hop on Facebook here and there and that's about it.
I'm going to run the Little Rock half marathon in March... I'm a little nervous because I took my PT's advice after my October race and rested - for over 2 months! Oops. Anyway, I'm officially back on track now. My weekend runs for the next couple weeks will set the tone for the rest of my training.
I had a bloaty day today, too. I told Megan I felt fat and she rolled her eyes at me. I responded I know I'm NOT fat anymore, I just FEEL fat. She continued to give me the "what-the-heck-ever" look. :) I bought a ton of fruit and some salad fixings this week - trying to get away from unHappy Meals and Lean Cuisines. Gotta reform those bad habits!
Chocolate is my next hurdle. I justify it right now by my exercise level, but really, I eat too much. I have experimented enough to know exactly how much and how often I can handle it. If I can ration it out, like two pieces on a day I run, that will be an improvement I think.
This is what I ate today:
Coffee with milk and a little creamer
Egg beater English muffin with turkey bacon and cheese
Lean pocket pizza
3 pieces chocolate
fruit salad (banana, kiwi, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, pineapple - pretty!)
string cheese
2 pieces chocolate
a few pita chips
banana
ham & cheese sandwich with lite mayo, lettuce, tomato
I also ran ~3 miles. Woohoo!
I get the hungry thing, too, especially after a hard workout. (Also close to my monthly visitor, but that's another thing.) I mentioned it to Dr. Baker before, and he said it's to be expected with lots of exercise and gave me carte blanche to eat all the fresh fruit and veggies I want.
Make sure you push fluids today, as it may also be a reaction to dehydration. I find if I drink tons of water and eat lots of fruits and veggies and a little bread, too, it'll pass in a few days. :)
Are you lactose intolerant? If not, next time you exercise, you might want to try drinking 8 oz of chocolate milk soon after your next really hard workout. It's supposedly got the ideal protein:carb ratio for athletes.
Hang in there, girl, and way to go on the exercise!
