Dr. Roller did my surgery. I had RNY. It will be two years ago in June. I have lost 180 lbs. He is cutting edge, has a wonderful office staff, and you can ask him a question and he will answer personally on their web site. He really is the bomb. He also did my gallbladder surgery when it went south. He literally saved my life. I had let it go too far and he fixed me right up. No problems with the surgery, was back to work a week and a half after my RNY. It has truely been a life changing experience. Good luck.

I think the EGD from Feb will probably be fine. Just start getting copies of all of your recent lab work and procedure reports to take with you.

Hi Susan,
I'm from Oklahoma City, but I'm having my surgery with Dr. Baker in LR. I come here to the Arkansas forum several times a week to check on you guys. It's so quiet here, but you're always here, chugging along. It's people like you that are the foundation of a strong support system, and I hope you get more appreciation in real life than you do here. :)
I just wanted to say Hi and I see you and I wish I could clone you for the OK board. haha
*Stands up to give you a round of applause.*

I had planned to go to the meeting on the 12th but ended up with whatever bug is going around now, and I was very sick. I do plan on going to Dr. Rollers next seminar. I went to a seminar in Muskogee but that just seems SO FAR away if I need the doctor.
I just love that you all have had very positive response, and it encourages me even more. I do want to have the sleeve surgery, and I am almost positive my insurance will not pay for it, but I will stay on course and persistant! Here I am putting the cart before the horse!!! I need to get to a seminar first! I just had an EGD done Feb. 28th I wonder if Dr. Roller would accept the results of that?
I have 2 friends that have had the sleeve surgery, and I see how their lives have improved for the better. I just love to hear their excitement when I talk with them about how heavy they were before and now how they feel better, and feel better about themselves.....
I also have a friend that has had the RNY and the positive changes in his life as well too!!! I fully believe when they say it is life change. THAT IT IS!!

Hi Gena!
I went to the seminar in February and then had my first appt with Dr Kristen Roller yesterday. You will get answers to most of your questions at the seminar. I do not know anyone who has personally used Dr Roller, but I was very impressed with the whole staff. I was most impressed that he teaches other doctors how to do the procedure, has done many hundreds of laprascopic bariatric procedures and has a 0% mortality and <1% major complication rate. Those statistics and just the all around strength of the program that they offer really tipped the scales for me. I want to have the sleeve but it looks like insurance may not cover, so I will probably have the gastric bypass. I have to do a psych consult and have an EGD still, then will be able to meet with Dr Josh Roller and plan the surgery date. I am scared and excited both. 2 years ago I had gone through the whole process to have gastric bypass in Tulsa. I ended up having an illness that landed me in the hospital on clear liquids feeling miserable for 3 days and I was also found to have a really low Vit D. I "chickened out" and decided not to have surgery at that time. Now, I'm kind of glad I waited because this program seems so much better, and it is close to home. I went to last month's support meeting and it was very informative as well. I won't be able to go to this one b/c I will be out of town, but maybe will see you at one in the future. Feel free to message me if I can help!

Hey Gena!
I'm a Dr. Roller patient. I also had the sleeve.
He is a great doctor! He is a teaching doctor for the sleeve procedure. I felt very confident with him and will use him again if I need my gallbladder or something out.
Like the other person said, Beth is a rockstar when it comes to insurance, if she can't do it, no one can.
I know a few others that have the sleeve and a few more that are going to get the sleeve.
I don't know if I could have done WLS, if it hadn't been for this option.
I'm about 7 weeks out and down 45 lbs. I feel great.
Please don't hesitate to email me with any questions!
