Hi Susan,

My mom was supportive right away. She said she was scared and glad too and we talked about it a bit. She had a few questions I didn't have answers for but will shortly. I don't know why I worried about it. She's always there for me, especially when it's the important stuff. :-)

Hi Charlee,

Glad to see you here. Welcome aboard!!  Things get a little slow around here during the summer months, folks out doing stuff and living busy lives. But....there are still plenty of people around to help you out.

Telling friends and family about your decision is usually the hardest part of preparing for this surgery. They are scared and concerned for you, and of course, they will have have thier opinions!  It's the same as being pregnant....everyone has a friend/neighbor/realitive who has some sort of horror story about how they carried that 16 lb baby for 11 months before delivering it on the side of the road......I think you get my drift here.

Listen to your heart, your doctor and your friends here who have been there, done that, and let the other stuff go in one ear and out the other.

Good luck with mom!

Susan

Yep, I agree, you look wonderful!

I have to get a new bathing suit. The last one I bought was i*****YIKES!

Hope the remodeling is going the way you wanted it to. I've been trying to stay away from the computer because of my elbow. It's so bad now that it's even hard to work. Oh well, such is life.

Have my appt with Gibbs about Henrietta Hernia, we'll see what he says.

Hope to see you Thursday?  I'm sure YOU will be there!

hugs and smiles!

Hi Leona,

Congratulations and welcome!!!

You're doing a great job so far, and if you haven't taken any pain meds yet, chances are you won't need to. That's VERY good!

Yep, keep up that walking and sippin' and you'll be just fine.

Take care

Susan

Hey Honey,

I'm trying so very hard to stay off the computer due to elbow issues, but couldn't keep from responding to you.

OMG, this is truly awful for you!  Do you have any leads? Are you able to collect unemployment (since they "laid" you off)?

it does sound like you have a pretty good attitude, using time to exercise and study. For that, I'm proud of you.

I don't care how you get here in Sept for the walk, and honestly, I'd love to see you get down out of that dually!!

Hugs and smiles!

Susan

Hi Leona!  Congratulations on taking that big first step on your journey to the new you.  Dr. Roller was my surgeon too.  Are you trying to do the 1 ounce every 15 min thing?  I couldn't keep up with that and was having a hard time.  I asked about it and they told me that  we didn't have to do it that way, they just wanted us to to make sure we would at least get in the minimum.  Dr. Roller  assured me I could drink my liquids any way I could tolerate them and they wouldn't stretch or hurt my pouch.  What worked for me was to pour up my water for the day and set out my proteih drinks for the day and start sipping.  It was easier for me to drink everything room temp. for the first week or so.  Everybody is different with how they tolerate the temp. of their liquids at first.  Anyway, I would just drink and would get more liquids down that way.  If you have any questions, be sure to go to Dr. Rollers web site to the RNY forum.  You can even ask Dr. Roller, Wendy, Anne or any of the staff a question and they will post back really quickly.  If you call the office, always press "0" when you are listening to the message to take you right to the receptionist otherwise the options are to leave a message if they don't answer.  The staff at Dr. Rollers office are all wonderful.  This site is great too.  There are a lot of people on here that are very knowledgeable and kind.  Welcome aboard.
