Topic: RE: Self Pay info

I only know what was in Dr. Baker's online packet in 2007 (my insurance paid so I never had to) and the 2008 prices because my mom had her surgery then.

Dr. Baker's cash pay price in 08/07 was as follows:

Baptist Hospital portion (up to 6 days):
$11,000.00 for open
$14,500.00 for lap
They will not charge more until you have gone over 6 days and that rate would be $1600.00 per day.  If you are readmitted for any complication within 10 days of discharge the $1600.00 per day charge will also still apply.

Surgery:

$5345.00 without gallbladder removal (open)
$6292.00 with gallbladder removal (open)
$6345.00 without gallbladder removal (lap)
$7292.00 with gallbladder removal (lap)
The assistant surgeon’s fee for a Laparoscopic is $1176.00.

Anesthesia OR charges:
$1,100.00
Post op pain management thru Arkansas Heath Group:
$650.00 (for an epidural)

HMR shakes:
$129.00 (pre-op diet)

miscellaneous labs that may be billed at a later day:
approximately
$150.00

In 2008, my mom's total (she self-paid) would have been about $16,500 if she had done open.  She did lap and paid about $21,000.

Hey Sybul, I couldn't find that forum. Are you talking about the "Failed Surgical Weight Loss" forum??
I'd be interested to go take a look there.

Gaining 3 lbs has scared me straight. Well, that and the fact that one of my clients even noticed it!! She asked me if I'd been putting on weight  Now, she's 88 yrs old and wasn't wearing her glasses....so if a half-blind old woman can tell I've gained weight, how bad must it be??

I know, I know, I'm overreacting, but still, it's made me take a better look at what I've been doing. I'm also going to check out a gym tomorrow, something I should have done 3 years ago.

Topic: RE: NWA Support Groups?
I go to a support group in Rogers.  It used to meet at the Rogers Activity Center, but is beginning to meet at the Apple Blossom center.  We meet on the second Sunday of each month at 2pm.  Let me know if I can give you any more information.

Topic: RE: Helloooooo!!!! Where is everyone?
You'd have to work a WHOLE lot harder to get rid of me, my dear!!!!  I've just been super busy, elbow problems are back, too, so I just try to stay off the computer.

The puppies sound adorable. I told Gary when Old Dog passes I won't mind getting another dog, but it won't be a puppy. Too many of my treasures have been eaten by them in the past, so we'll probably find a rescue of some sort.

I'm thinking about joining a gym too. There is one about 3-4 miles from the house that has 24 hr access. Not that I'd be stairclimbing at 2:00 a.m., but I do like going early, before work. If I don't, it doesn't get done because I'm too tired from working.

Going to a baby shower today for my DIL's sister. I'm only going for Tess, don't much care for the sister, she's mean to my dear one. But, families stick together, right?

Okay, gotta go hit the shower. I have LOTS to say about your newest post regarding gaining, so I promise I'll be back later!!!

Topic: Been checking out the weight regain board
I've been browsing OH this morning and checked out the weight regain board.  That's a real eye- opener.  It makes me want to be even more diligent than ever.  I know that this is just a tool.  I know that to make it work I have to follow the rules for life.  It has certainly scared me straight!

Topic: NWA Support Groups?
I am having surgery on 9/5 out of area. I would love to have a support group to join. Is there an active group I could join in NWA?

I use www.myfitnesspal.com  There are a bunch of good ones out there.  This site has a food tracker but you have to build it and I haven't messed with it yet.  You can customise my fitness pal.  Be sure to set your protein to at least 80 gms per day and it will keep accurate track of it.  The water thing can be hard.  I don't like plain water.  I use the crystal lite, wylers, hawaiian punch to add to it.  It all comes sugar free.  Some of it is calorie free too.

Topic: Helloooooo!!!! Where is everyone?

Come out, come out, wherever you are!  What happened?  Did I run everybody off with my early morning monologs?  Not much going on.  Mowed earlier today for a few hours.  We're in out of the heat for now.  Tink ended up just having the two puppies.  They are so cute.  I am finally losing again.  Slowly, but still on the way down again.  As soon as I can afford it, I am going to join the gym by work.  I'll just go every day after work.  What has everyone been up to?
