Topic: RE: Dead forum?
Hello
I was wondering the same thing. Are there any people from AR that still post here?
Good luck on your surgery Solon. I wish i was at your stage. I will be having my surgery at baptist with Dr. Baker. I would like to read about any recent experiences any of you may have had.
Blessings
Gina

Are there just not very many of us? Or do people just have nothing to talk about.

Has anyone experienced anything I should know @ baptist or w/ this doctor??
Thanks!
P.S. - Post more!

Topic: OT - "Super" Plus Size Clothes Desperately Needed in Joplin, MO
Hi~
I work in Joplin, MO and live about 5 miles south of the city (so I'm okay!), but due to the EF-5 tornado hitting a densely populated area of the city, there's a tremendous need for all kinds of things.
There's been a call out for "super" plus size clothes that are desperately needed by a small handful of individuals who are pretty much wearing the same clothes they had on Sunday.
In general, there's a HUGE amount of clothes that have been donated, but NOT really large-sized clothing pieces.
This one family is obese AND tall - some of the men are in the 7' tall range. There are 3 men and 1 woman. They need:
MEN:
Shirts: 5XTall
Pants: 54" X 38"
44" x 36"
34" x 38"
Shoes: size 13 AND 16
WOMEN:
Shirts: 4X
Pants: 28 Long if possible
Shoes size 10
There's a local radio "news talk" station that has been taking calls about all manner of things to pair up those who are missing, offer services/ products from businesses, & announce needed services/ items & this was one of them. The announcers stressed 3 times that this family was in dire need of clothing. I'm sure they're not the only one, Missouri, I believe, is in the top 5 US states for rates of obesity.
I got the contact information for the family and am going to gather the donations & either drop them off or one of the family members whom I spoke to just now will pick them up. The family lived in one of the apt buildings that was completely destroyed. They literally have nothing left.
If you can help, please either reply here or send me a PM.
Thanks, peeps!
Lisa

Topic: Support Group?
Hi all!
I am an official OH support group leader, and live in Arkansas, but travel frequently for my job.
I would like to see if we can get a non surgeon specific support group started for meetings either centrally located, or in specific areas, as my travel will allow.
If you are interested, please respond with specific areas/ days you would like to meet, and specific topics you are interested in.
I can usually get speakers, as needed, and samples related to the topics.
Also, please think about joining all of us in New Orleans for the fall conference! They are fun, inspiring, and really help you get back on track with a re-newed outlook on your journey!
Thanks,
Sarah

Topic: xp - Memphis VitaTour 5/28 UPDATE
**Edited because I can't read a calendar. Sunday, May 29th, is the best day for Michelle & Don. We can do lunch or meet for coffee or whatever. Y'all just let us know. Otherwise, Victoria and I will have them all to ourselves and you'll just miss out. Bummer!
Everyone in the Memphis area and Northeast Arkansas, mark your calendars for a great event in Memphis, TN on Saturday, 5/28 or Sunday, 5/29. Vitalady and Vitaguy will be in Memphis, TN on Memorial Day weekend. w00t!
Victoria B & I are trying to organize the event so please let us know what you want to do. Since it's Memphis, meeting for BBQ sounds like the answer, but hey, we're easy.
Vitalady (Michelle) and Vitaguy (Don) will do a general informational event or if we are interested will do a sampling event (for a small $5 fee to defray costs). I think sampling is a great idea, but would like to hear your ideas.
I'll post more details when I hear from the VitaCouple and the locals.
PM or email me with input or if you have any questions. You can go to http://vitalady.com/2011_tour_info.htm to find out other dates/locations for their tour.

Topic: EEEK!! I have a date!!
After contemplating it for 10 years, I've finally made the first steps to having WLS. I'll be having the LapBand on May 6, with Dr. Wellborn at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock.
Does anyone have any words of advice or support?? I don't personally know anyone else who has had it, so I'd love to hear from others!
