Topic: RE: Psychologist
There is a pschologist here named Nancy Ryburn who has spoken at our support group meeting. Just about all she did while living in NYC was related to WLS and obesity. I think she's wonderful, but doesn't take insurance.

If you still want her info, I'll look it up.

Good luck!

Topic: RE: surgery, buy ? do? ,,, in little rock
Besides food and whatever else your hubby's surgeon will tell you to get, I would get a measured shotglass.  One that measures .5 oz, 1 oz, 1.5 oz and 2 oz on the side of it.  Mine was a godsend, It was much easier to use than tablespoons.  And during the 1oz stage you can use it as a bowl to eat out of.
Also an egg timer, I used mine for the first few months every day.  I set it to 30 minutes before it was time to eat, 30 minutes while eating and would take a tiny nibble every so many minutes (depending on stage depended on how many bites per minutes I took), then 90 minutes after eating.  the first week home I had it go off every hour to remind me to get up and walk my hallways.  You will find an egg timer to be the best thing to have when everything rotates around time.
I had baby spoons, the small juice glasses that hold 4 oz.  I sent my partner to sonic every morning for a route 44 of crushed ice with water and lemon, and would eat the crushed ice.  Sonics crushed ice was the only one I liked.
That's all I can think of right now, oh a large comfortable robe.  And with the weather getting cold, I very heavy coat as he will most likely be very cold.  I wore one in August after my surgery.  Didn't matter if it was 100 outside, I felt like it was 40.

Dixie cups might be good for eating out of to.

Oh, I bought little bowls with lids, the small snack size round ones with snap on lids, and every flavor of sugar free pudding and put one flavor in each bowl and labeled them and I used them with vanilla protein powder so I could have a different flavor everyday.  I didn't want to commit to a large canister of different flavors.

Okay now that is all I can think of, perhaps a journal or diary or something for him to keep progress in and to write in daily how he is feeling, surgery wise.  It helps so when you have questions, write it down so he doesn't forget to ask.

Topic: CPAP Settings Upped
My CPAP settings pre-op was 14, then 6 months after surgery it was lowered to 8.  I had got a little non-compliant for a little while, and then started to wear it again earlier this year but had trouble, so didn't wear it for a few months, then in spring I tried it again, and it just felt like I was gagging for air, like a pillow on my face.  So a few months later I try again and same thing.  So I finally get in for another sleep study and they put my settings back up to 14.   I don't know why my settings needed to be raised so high.
I already knew that my Sleep Apnea was not related to my obesity as I had it all my life, since I was a baby.  But I did know that the obesity made it worse.

Also on the same note, my first 2 nights wearing my CPAP on 14, I awoke numerous times with the need to burp and having to literally burp myself.  When I woke up in the morning, it felt like someone air-dried my entire insides.  I swallowed air throughout the night, I never had so much "gas" inside of me and my CPAP nurse told me to try and walk it out.  Why would the air be going down to my stomach instead of my lungs?  What kind of damage can this do to my pouch?  I don't want it to get stretched out or irritated.

I don't go back to the CPAP doctor at the hospital until Dec 7th.

Thanks for posting this.  I will have to check them out when I go to LR again.  I think I am going sometimes this month or next for my 2 yr post-op (albeit a bit late, LOL).

Topic: Psychologist
Can anyone recommend a psychologist in the central Arkansas area?  I have no idea where to go and wanted to see if anyone else has found someone they like.  I have to have an evaluation for my BCBS insurance.

Okay, this time I PROMISE I have it right!   The next meeting will be on November 12. Lauren has a guest speaker scheduled for us....most likely should be ladies only, unless there are some guys out there that want to know about "supportive undergarments"!

December's meeting will be our 2nd annual Holiday meeting. Both groups together, with WLS friendly snacks and goodies.  Please, Please plan on attending!  We'd love to see everyone come out and celebrate a successful year!

That is so great. I can only imagine it must be hard for the weight loss thing being pregnant. But I'm sure you will do fine. You have to do what you have to for the well being of the baby. You didn't say if you want a boy or girl, so I hope you get what you want, and most of all that it is healthy. Good luck on this journey.

Topic: Pregnancy Update...
Hey everyone!  I hope everyone is doing good.  My pregnancy is going well.  Ive been nauseated pretty much from 6 weeks on, but it's manageable.  I am 17 weeks today.  This Tuesday, the 10th, we will find out the sex of the baby (hopefully if he/she cooperates!)  I was 219lbs when I found out I was prego, (about 4 weeks along).  Then I lost down to 214, and now I have gained up to 222 lbs.  It's so very hard to gain weight, because I am afraid I will gain all my weight back, but I know it's for the best for the baby.  So, thats whats going on with me.  Whats going on with you all?
