Information
HI. I have UHC, but what you have to know is whether your particular policy covers it. For example, the insurance at my employment covers WLS for full time people, but not for part time people.
If it does cover, whatever restrictions are there could be different from one employer's contract to another. For example, mine disallows almost everything except for RNY (I want DS, not RNY). The requirements are 100lbs overweight OR BMI of 35 with 2 life-threatening comorbs ( diabetes, sleep apnea, heart disease/hypertension) or 40 with no co-morbs, and a history of dieting with no success at weight loss.
You definitely have to check your insurance book and/or talk with your HR person. I have seen where people reported here that UHC approved them with no troubles at all. I've also seen where UHC totally denied them, but they didn't say whether the policy had exclusions against WLS.

Deanna,
Could you please email me privately I was looking for your email but couldn't find it. Mine is [email protected].
I am from Jonesboro also. I used Dr. Woodman and regret it so much! Not because of the surgical experience but because of his attitude and his demeanor.
BTW, love that new mall too! Did you know its a mile in length and if you walk it from target to dillards and back its two miles? Very interesting info.. hehe
Hope to hear from you,
Amy
My wife and I both had our rny surgeries in Batesville with Doc Lambert. We had uhc and they were pretty good. They are kind of ditzy. They lost all my original paperwork but I resubmitted and kept bugging them and got approval. My wife had her surgery six months are mine and uhc did not give her any problems and they paid pretty good. It does depend on how your individual policy reads. If wls is not excluded they will pay. You might want to call Doc Lambert they have an excellent program in Batesville and White River Medical Center is a very good hospital. They treated my wife and I wonderfully.
