has anyone found it difficult to get your dr to write a letter of medical necessity? did you switch dr's after yours wouldnt write it? do you know of a dr who would willingly write it without giving you a hard time and just telling you to "lose the weight the conventional route" ??? thanks

If your doc is not supportive now change docs he wont help you at all after surgery. I dont know any docs in your area but maybe wherever you are planning on having surgrery one of the pcps there would help you out. I had my surgery in Batesville at White River Medical Center and Doc Lambert had several other docs at that hospital that worked with him and would be very helpful. I can highly reccomment Doc Lambert at White River. His info is on this site. There are good docs in Little Rock too. They do surgeries in Jonesboro but I had a bad experiece at a hospital there and would not reccomment that program.

Melanie we are in Fort Smith and both my husband and I have doctors who will VERY willingly write our letters of necessity when we finally get insurance coverage. In fact, they are working with us right now to get our ducks in a row so that when the time comes, we will have most all of the possible requirements for approval covered. Your doc is full of BS. There are more and more docs who are getting on board with WLS and it shouldn't be too hard to find one. Dump him. He doesn't give a fig about your best interest. Denise in FS

Hi, I would definitly think of looking for a new Dr, you need a supportive dr who will be there for you before and after surgery.
