I don't know if this will be helpful or not, but if you go to http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/members/list-insurers.php?State=AR&alphaPos=M you can scroll down to those others who've used medicaid. Anyway, from the ones I read those who got approval, most saw a doctor first and they handled all the paperwork. I know Dr. Jones used to take medicaid (in late 2005) http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/bariatric+surgeon+profile+K+Bruce+Jones+MD+jr.html Well anyway, good luck and hope this helps!

I had my surgery in Bateville with Doc Lambert. I am sure he takes medicaid. They are doing wls in Springfileld but I dont know if they take out of state medicaid. You could come to our support group meetings on the second monday of each month at 5 30 pm at St JOhns outpaitent surgery building next to the hospital. I lived in West Plains Missouri when I had my surgery with Doc Lambert. My wife had her wls six months after me with Doc Lambert. We were both very pleased and have not had any major problems. He is a great surgeon. There are a lot of surgeons doing wls in Little Rock too. They do surgeries in Jonesboro too but I dont like the hospitals there myself.

Medicaid guidelines state that you must have 12 of the last 18 months of doctor supervised dieting. Medicaid will give you a prior approval which is a good thing. If you go with Dr. Lambert talk with Betty Willette. You must have the letter of necessity and it must state that you have dieted under your doctor for that long. If you don't, they won't pay. Also, you must meet the criteria of BMI and co-morbidities. I went with Dr. Clay Wellborn in Little Rock. He is wonderful and would recommend him to anyone. Suzan his wife is the office manager, and could help you. Their website is www.arkansasobesitysurgery.com They will help you with anything you need, and they go beyond what others do for you. Also, feel free to email me anytime! Good luck!

I hope you have had some success since your posting. I used Dr. Lambert in Batesville, AR he and his staff are wonderful. They took care of my insurance paperwork, I had medicaid at the time of my procedure. The pre and post care from his clinic is impeckable. I have nothing but good things to say about them. He gave me my life back.
