Internal scar tissue and adhesions

Hi All, I had rny bypass in Jan. Dr. Rex Luttrell was my surgeon. I am a Keloid former. That is excessive scar tissue. Dr. Luttrell had to take over 2 hours to cut through the scar tissue and adhesions that had my large and small intestines bound up in wads. He said it was a real mess. This scar tissue was from having an abd. aortic bypass in 1995. After 10 years, my abd. looked like I was 9 months pregnant. Now, I know it's forming again. My belly was nice and almost flat after losing 60 lbs. Now, though I'm small everywhere else, my belly is getting bigger and bigger. I'm not gaining wt. nor am I losing, but I'm not trying right now. I've had a lot of positive results from the surgery. Diabetes gone, blood pressure normal, back pain gone, but does anyone know of any way to keep the scar tissue from forming. I know I need to be asking Drs. this, but I've learned to ask layman for straight answers! Anyone else have this problem or know of a Dr. who might help? I wasn't real happy with my surgeon, because the day after my surgery I started throwing up bright red blood in large amounts! This went on for approx 6 hours before the Dr. finally came in! the bleed started at 9pm , and he didn't show up until after 3 am. My nurse at St. Vincents was great, called the Dr. every time I threw up, saved everything I threw up in or on. When the Dr. did come in, he just paced the floor saying, "I've never had this happen before". Thank God he turned me over to a great gastro Dr. Dr. Baber.He put me in icu, told my daughter I was too unstable to be opened up again or even to go down with a scope, for fear of ripping something else, so they just kept giving me blood and pumped the blood from my new stomach via NG tube. He told her to call in the rest of my family, because I might not make it. I know this will scare some of you who are waiting for your surgery but I would do it again! I did not have a life before. I lived in bed. Now I am enjoying life, going places, having fun! I hope someone knows of something or someone who can help me with this scar tissue inside. God Bless All, Sharon Terhune
