Yes, yes! Dr. Ozment has been performing the RNY for the many years. he has done almost 8,000 surgeries in the past 30 yrs. He is one of the pioneers of this surgery and has trained most of the other surgeons who do this surgery in this state. He has an excellent track record. I have used him and know many other happy patients. he is a great doc and has an excellent bedside manner. You can access their website. The address is (www)stvincentobesitysurgery.com. Their is a profile of him and two other surgeons. Hope this helps. Erin

He used to be a general surgeon that also did wls, but now he is only devoted to the Bariatric Center, where he is the director. He does fewer surgeries than he used to but not because he is retired. That is where alot of confusion comes in. He retired from the general surgery aspect but not the wls. He does surgery upon request but I believe he devotes alot of his time to training other surgeons. I used him a year ago and I am positive he is still doing surgery. You cannot go wrong with him. Did you look at his website? I will forward some info to you privately. Let me know if I can help any furthur. Erin
yes he retired in the summer of last year, his partner however, dr. mark gibbs, is practicing and just did my lap rny surgery... he was wonderful, i was in recovery in 1.5 hours after he started the surgery. I had no complications thus far, and i'm nearly 3 weeks out.
dr. gibbs practices at st. vincents, and baptist hospital, both in little rock, arkansas.

It is not true that he retired. Yes he has scaled his practice down but I know several people who have had surgery done this year. I had my surgery done by him last year as well. He will also be fixing my hernia this summer. Sometimes I think there is some confusion because more insurance companies have Drs. Gibb****rell, and Baker in their network who all do surgery out of Baptist as well as St. Vincent. Dr. Ozment only works out of St. Vincent. Also I think he only does surgery by request on a case by case basis.
I don't know about his practice now, but I do know that I have a friend who had a precursor of DS surgery with him 25 years ago. She did great. She never lost all of her weight but she got well down into missy sizes. She now is fairly big - but certainly not above an 18. She's never once regretted and puts Dr. Ozment up there next to God.

Well, I went to one of his wls seminars a couple of weeks ago and explained the procedure, and all that good stuff, said he does more training now since he is the director of surgeons at st.vincents hospital he use to perform 10 or more surgeries a week and still does the procedure but never does more than two a week and has a waiting list 3-5 months out, hope that helps you.
