Surgery Date

I have got approved . I am soooo happy but scard at the same time. My surgery is going to be March 30 @ 9:30. I use to dream of getting this, now I am going to get it I am nervous. Is there anything ahead of time I can do to help with this. I also have to attend a WLS meeting before I have my surgery. I am from Searcy does anyone know if there will be another one in Seacy before March 30. I would like to have a friend to talk to about this surgery maybe to easy my mind a little. So if anyone wants to talk I am hear to listen. Well I want to wish everyone trying to get the surgery good luck... I went threw 2 denials but I didnt give up and finally the insurance comany gave in ;). God bless everyone Thanks for reading !! Susan

Susan, I had lap RNY May 26, 2004. I had my surgery Wednesday at noon, was up walking at 6PM, and home on Friday at noon. Felt great, no problems and could have gone back to work on the 3rd week but I chose to stay home and enjoy my grandkids during the summer so I took the 6 weeks! It was wonderful and I felt great. This has been the easiest surgery for me. March 26th will be 10 months and I've lost 103 pounds. I have only had a few "dumping syndromes" but that was my fault...overate or ate something with too much sugar. I've no complications and feel great. And by the way I was 56 years old when I had it done so my recuperative period was really great. This message board is a wonderful means of support. Everyone is so great to keep you pumped and uplifted. Hang in there. Keep a positive attitude and let God take over. March 30th will be here and gone and in a few weeks after that you will feel like a new woman and it's amazing how the weight just comes off. Glenn Gay Springdale

Susan, Congratulations!!! I'm having my surgery on the 10th. Just a few more days!!!! I don't know about a support group in Searcy, but I do know that they have them at Baptist in LR. I think it's the 3rd thurday of the month. If you call Dr. Wellborns office in LR 663-9600 I'm sure they'd be more than happy to tell you when exactly it is. We can chat about the surgery if you'd like. The two people I talk to about it live in other states and it would sure be nice to have someone in the same state to talk to. As for my approval, I was VERY fortunate that my ins. approved me rigth now. I was actually shocked. If you'd like to talk on the phone let me know and I can email you my phone number. Thanks for everyone respones. I am having my surgery at Baptist Hospital and it is being done by Dr. Baker. I am a little nervous but this is something I wanted my whole life, not the weightloss surgery but to see what it is like to be thin. Cathi I would love to talk to you on the phone and see how you are doing afterwards or by e-mail. Anyone that needs support I would love to be there for them. Hi Susan...I'll be at the support group meeting at Baptist on the 10th...look forward to meeting you. I am 2 months post of as of today (Monday 3/7/2005) and I am losing inches although my weight is sort of slow to come off. Several reasons for that, all of which are my fault. Not enough water and not enough protein! I am really looking forward to the seminar in order to get some incentive to up my water and protein to get the weight falling again. Anyway, good luck and I hope we can chat at the group meeting on Thursday. Karen
