Back from the hospital....again

Well, on Wednsday I woke up with fever, dry heaves and a red calf. As the day went on, my calf became larger and redder..... finally got a call back from the doctor who said to get to the ER. Got to Baptist, had a venous doppler (negative!) and some bloodwork....come to find out, I had developed cellulitis from, of all things, shaving my leg! Doctor Baker admitted me and started me on IV antibiotics. I finally got out tonight about 8pm. The redness is much improved, as is the swelling but I'll be on oral antibiotics for a few more days. Otherwise, I'm feeling great and am ready to continue the journey. They weighed me in the hospital and I am down 35 pounds! Karen

Hi Karen, I did not even know you were having an issue. Thanks for keeping us uddated. Thank God it was not a blood clot or anything like that. I am so glad you are doing well. Congrats on the 35 pounds lost!!

Thanks for the well wishes! I am feeling soooooooo much better today. All the redness appears to be gone from my calf and I finally feel like I've whipped the nausea that I was feeling. I think I had a little bug to go along with the cellulitis. Big news for me today....I have found a protein drink I like! Unjury chocolate tastes JUST like chocolate milk! I just have to hold my breath when I take a drink since I don't care for the smell too much. But at least I am finally getting my protein in!!!

I have heard great things about unjury but I have never tried it. What do you mix it with? I can not mix things with milk, becasue since the surgery I have become lactose intolerant. I have a hard time getting in my protein. I am always looking for new ideas......

I like unjury too. They have 3 flavors: chocolate, vanilla, and unflavored. You could put the unflavored in anything. The vanilla would work in a fruit flavored drink like crystal light, giving it a creamcicle type flavor. You could substitute soy milk with any of them. They do not work well in hot foods/beverages. orange crystal light. It was pretty darn good! I have a few more of the vitalady powders to try before I decide what to purchase.

I have never tried Unjury, I will have to put it on my list. However, I do like American Whey and Isopure. I just pour a scoop in my Low carb smoothie and just stir! It is great. I use to put it in the blender, but I hate the foamie taste, so this works great! Glad you are doing better and out of the hospital, congrats on your weight loss! Tweedy -108
