Charlene, I remember those emotions! Walking afterwards is so important. Are you having open or lap? I had lap and have 6 little puncture holes and never experienced the awful pain that some talk about. I have the morphine pump the day of the surgery and they took it off the next day. I came home with pain pills but never took them. I wished everyone had as easy of a time as I did. Keep us posted and you're in many prayers and thoughts. Glenn Springdale

Thank you Glenn for your prayers. I am having the lap procedure also. I hope I have it as easy as you did too! Today I am not that nervous. I am sooooo ready. I want to start this new journey "yesterday." Thank you again for your encouragement and prayers. I'll check in on the board next week and give an update. (((hugs))))Charlene

Charlene; Well, the surgery should be over for you, I'm praying that you have smooth sailing! That you don't have much pain. Boy, I wish mine were over, but 1 1/2 weeks to wait. I go to LR the 12th for my pre-op stuff and siminar. I have an appt. with my pcp to tell him I'm having the surgery! I figured he would object so i've put off telling him. God Bless you and everyone post and pre-op. Sharon

You go girl...to the losing side! You are going to do great. Dr. Gibbs is wonderful. I am a bit over 3 months post op and I'm doing great. When I woke up in recovery, I was in some pain and missed being able to have water/ice. By the time I got to my room, I already felt better, kept that pain pump going, walked as soon and as often as I could then I was on my way home before I knew it!!! It's such a blessing to be on the losing side and throwing those bigger sizes out and you are on your way!!!! You are in my prayers! Take good care. Julie

Hi Julie, Thank you for your support and encouragement. It's good to hear from folks that had such good experiences. I realize this is not going to be an easy experience, but I'm ready for the challenge. Your prayers are much appreciated. Charlene

Charlene, You'll do wonderfully. I had my surgery on 12/22 and was home on Christmas Day. I unfortunatly didn't have the lap, but had open RNY, but my recovery has been remarkably quick. I only took two pain pills after returning home, but that was at my husbands request. I preferred to know what I was up against pain wise and to know what I could or could not handle. Every day is better than the previous one. I had my staples out yesterday and I've been sleeping on my side/stomach for a few days now. I'll be praying for you as well...God's hands will guide your surgeon. Jamie

Jamie thank you so much for your prayers. I'm so glad you are doing so well. I am so excited. I know this is going to be the beginning of the rest of my life, so I am going to do it right. I am so eager to get started on my journey. We are pretty close in dates so please keep me updated on your progress and success. Take care and God bless, Charlene

Hi, Charlene! I was thinking about you today! I will keep you in my prayers on Friday. Get out of bed as soon as you can and follow the dr's instructions and you will be fine. I will finally go back to work on Monday and that is making me very happy. I'm so bored. I almost wish I hadn't taken this extra week off work, but since I had open RNY, I felt like it was necessary. I'm eating fairly well and have had no major problems. As of last night, I've lost 27.5 pounds, so I'm thrilled with that. The only thing I miss is that I can't lie down on my side comfortably yet, so I'm still sleeping in a recliner. Hopefully by next weekend that will change. You asked about my advice and how things went for me the other today. I finally wrote it all in my profile, if you want to read that. God will be with you and your surgeons every step of the way. Remember that. Lisa S.
