Hi! I have been reading a lot of people's stories about weightloss surgery and the different Dr.s in Arkansas. I have my surgery scheduled with Dr. Ozment on January 7, 2005 and was wondering if anyone can give me some personal experience with him? I am in Oklahoma and have not met with him yet, but will meet with him one-on-one Jan. 6th. I can't wait for the new me, but I have to admit, I am terrified! Thanks in advance! Amy
Hi Amy,
My surgery is January 7th also at Baptist Med Center. My doctor is Mark Gibbs. All I can tell you about Dr. Ozment is what I have heard: ALL GOOD STUFF! I'm not sure but I think he and Dr. Luttrell and Dr. Gibbs at one time worked together. I'm too excited to be nervous. I am just taking each day thanking God for this opportunity. He is the one that actually opened all the doors. I'm going into this with all my faith in Him. I'll say a little prayer for you too that morning. I hope all goes well for you, and MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR for a new you!

Hi Charlene!
Thanks for your help and glad tidings. I think I am just scared and needing reassurance more than anything. I have been doing additional research and bought some books on the issue and reading and reading and reading some more. I think I am prepared but it is still scary!
The waiting is killing me! I think it is scarier to sit and be able to ponder than it is to just go and do it.
I wish you great success and will keep you in my thoughts and prayers as well! Maybe we can both make it back here soon afterwards and post about how well we are doing!
Happy Holidays!
Amy
Hi Amy;
I hear Dr. Ozmont is the best! He has taught some of the ther DRs., including mine, Dr. Rex Luttrell. I understand Dr. Ozmont has done over 8000 wl surgeries!
I live in Yellville, Ar. and my children are from the Dillard/Davenport families.
They have a large Dillard reunion every year.
I know you will do great with your surgery. You and Charlene both are having yours on the 7th, I think. I'll be praying for you both. Mine is the 19th. Anybody else scheduled for that day at St. Vincents? Let me know and maybe we can give each other support while in the hospital.
Keep us posted.

Hi Amy,
Dr. Gibbs did my surgery, but I attended the seminar with Dr. Ozment. He is a very caring and sweet man. You are in good hands with him. He has been doing the surgery for 27 years and has done over 8000 of them, so you don't have a thing to worry about. He actually trained my surgeon. Just do what he tells you and you'll be fine. I had my surgery on 10/14 and have lost 40 pounds and feel better than I have in years. I know that being nervous is normal. I was a wreck the week before my surgery. I look back now and wonder why I was nervous at all. My recovery has been perfect and I couldn't be happier with my results. I eat whatever I want, just in very small portions. I try to avoid sugar and carbs as much as possible, but if I want a treat I have it, just very sparingly. I don't seem to dump on fat or sugar, so I have to use the old willpower to keep myself in check. But, it is so much easier to walk away from the bad stuff since surgery. Your tastes will change and the things you loved before surgery aren't quite as appealing after. Best wishes to you on a quick and pain free recovery. If you have any questions or just need reassurance, feel free to e-mail me at [email protected]. God Bless

Hi Amy,
I attended the seminar as well with Dr. Ozment. And I really liked him. Too bad I had already picked my doctor! My doctor is great, but Dr. Ozment seems so knowledgeable. He seems to have "seen it all" and performed numerous surgeries. Good Luck to you, you have made a very wise decision.

You are in the BEST hands. Please try and put your worries aside. This man knows what he is doing. You couldn't ask for a better surgeon. He is extrememly skilled, compassionate, caring and a genuinely good man. As you can tell, I just love him. Good luck. Erin

Thank you all for your wonderful and kind words! I am starting to feel more relieved and actually am getting pretty anxious!
My surgery was rescheduled for Jan. 6 so I will be having it one day earlier. Thank goodness! I would do it tomorrow if I could, just so I can get the worst part over!!
I would love to know if anyone else will be in St. Vincents at the same time as I am. That would be great!
Can anyone tell me how I can get in touch with any support groups in the Ft. Smith area?
I can't wait to be on the losing side!! WOOHOO!
