Feeling Lousy

I am into my 6th month of post op wls and this is the worst I have ever felt. We went on a cruise and I returned with a really bad case of gout. I had gout before wls and had medicine to take when it flared up. Started the medicine and now it has really torn my tummy up. I have cramping and had diarreah since last Wednesday. Saw the doc on Friday and he said I have caused my pouch to bleed with the gout medicine. I feel terrible and am in a lot of pain. On top of all this my husband had to have heart surgery Thursday and had 2 heart stints - the main artery over his heart was blocked 80% in the top third and 90% blocked in the bottom third. He's home but not doing really well and I am waiting now to hear from his doctor on what to do. He's got a lot of congestion and running a temp. Maybe this feeling is stress and just being completely worn out but I haven't felt this bad since surgery. Guess I just needed to vent and probably need to cry. Does anyone else have gout and how have you handled it with all the protein we have to eat? The pain is almost unbearable! Thanks! Glenn Gay Springdale

I am so sorry and hope you will be feeling better soon. I am also praying for your husband. My husband deals with gout and it seems very painful. I hate that I have no advice but wanted to let you know there are prayers going up for you!

I had gout once years ago when I was pregnant with my second child. I know how much pain you are having. It doesn't help that your tummy is so torn up too. I'm sure the stress you have been under is not helping either. I hope your husband gets along ok and I will keep you both in my prayers. Just know that you have a good place to vent here, and I'm sure there are many of us that will lend a shoulder for you to cry on. Two traumatic events within a six months time period gives you good reason to be stressed....sooooo go ahead and cry......sometimes it's the best medicine! God Bless~~~Charlene

You certainly have reasons for the stress that you feel, but stress is sure to aggravate conditions for both you and your husband. What an ugly cycle! I will be praying for you that you can both experience healing and peace. You will get through this. Joy
