Hi everyone, I had WLS last Nov. 4th and am doing well. We currently live in Massachusetts and are coming to Hot Springs to check out the area and look at real estate. The high cost of living and need for total change is what is making us want to move out of the Northeast. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice positive or negative about AR, any info would be greatly appreciated. I am an RN and my hubby has his own painting business, so we aren't too worried about finding work. We have a 2and a half year old and one on the way so we're interested in finding out info about communities and schools. Thanks alot, Paula

Hi Paula! I live in Hot Springs, and I love it. I have lived here and in Little Rock my whole life. It's a wonderful place to raise children, I have a 3 yr old and an 11 yr old. Try to avoid Hot Springs School District if you can. The elementary schools are excellent, but the middle and high schools are horrible. There are several other districts in the area that are all really good. I work for a group of surgeons and am in nursing school. We have a pretty large medical community here, so you won't have a problem finding a job! Please e-mail me if you have any questions at all about the area, and I'll be happy to help any way that I can. Good Luck! Kristie [email protected]

Hot Springs is a really nice area. Trees, mountains, lakes all around. Great climate. Low cost of living. I live in Little Rock, but go to Hot Springs often on the weekends for fun. Welcome! Joy

I live in Maumelle a small town across the river from Little Rock. We are lucky enough to have a small houseboat that we keep in Hot Springs. You will love Arkansas. The people here are friendly and the weather is a lot better then up there. My dad is from Portland Maine, so I know about your weather. Why did you pick Hot Springs? You should at least look at Maumelle - it is a planned community that is now a city and it is a wonderful place to raise kids - we raised three. North Arkansas around Fayetteville is also a wonderful part of the State. You will not have any problem finding a job we are crying for nurses down here. Hot Springs is fun to go to on the week ends and play at the lakes, but look at some other communities before you pick just that one. Air Force Mom
