Dr. Gibbs did my WLS along with taking out my gall bladder last February. He did an excellent job and I am very pleased with him. Carrie, his nurse, has always been extremely helpful as well, and they answered any questions I had. I am within 12 pounds of my goal! Best of luck and I hope it all goes well! Laura

Hi Penny, I went to Dr. Gibbs' seminar on Sept. 30th. I was quite impressed with him. He is very thorough and informative and seems to take his patients needs and concerns very seriously. I also met Carrie, his nurse, and although she is firm and to the point, she also was very helpful and and was willing to answer any and all questions. She takes care of all the scheduling, medical records and insurance. I'm waiting to hear from her now about my insurance. She is to let us know when she has sent all the info to the ins. company. I'm sorry I can't give you more info about the doctor, but I've read lots of reviews about him and they are all very good. I've chosen him to do my surgery. I just hope and pray my insurance will pay for it. . Good luck with your search and I hope you get the information you need. I'll try to keep you informed about my experiences as they come along. God bless, Charlene

As far as my experience goes, Dr. Gibbs is the BEST!! I went to my PCP back in March and asked him who I should go to and he told me the only doctor that he would recommend was Dr. Gibbs. My husband and I went to the seminar on March 26 and I had my surgery on July 26. I have not had much dealing with Carrie, but when I did she was very nice - like the other person said - very to the point, but I know that she is Dr. Gibb's only nurse and is very busy. I would recommend Dr Gibbs to anyone. As of yesterday I had lost down from 315 to 249 and gone from size 30 to size 22 clothes. Just Do It!! Libby Strawn Air Force Mom 315/249/140

I have been very pleased with the surgery. I think Dr. Gibbs is one of the best surgeons in little rock. He and his staff are very nice and very helpful. One thing I have noticed, or I wish was more available is more holistic care, in that there was a nutritionist that worked more closely with you. I have been impressed with those who have had to go through nutritional classes where the instructor was not only a ntuitionalist, but specialized in eating programs for those who have had wls. Nonetheless, you will just need to be more proactive in your care in those areas. This site has been A MUST for me in those regards. Issues like what type of vitamins should I be taking? When should I start b-12 or b complex, or even if I should at all? Should I take iron to begin with? Do I need supplements? How many calcium pills should I be taking? Which vitamins are soluable in water and not. Because as a wls patient we need soluable vitamins, they absorb better. Oh take calcium at night, and not at the same time you take iron. Anyway.....these are the things I am learning on my own. Like I said, you will need to be proactive in this part of your care. Tweedy
