I have a friend that had gastric bypass 24 years ago and wants to have it again due to weight gain and some health problems. Does anyone know if it can be done? She's also 67 and several doctors she's contacted so far said not after 65. She is bound and determined, so I told her I would post this for her. Thanks for any info Pam R

I'm sure it would depend on the situation? Does she need a revision/correction for health reasons? Once RNY is done, the pouch should continue to be there and to work if she follows the pouch rules unless she has a leak from her pouch into her distal stomach. This was fairly common in the early surgeries. She needs to find a very good and reputable surgeon who will talk straight to her. If another surgery is indicated, it should be done; if it is not advisable, she needs to understand the risks. I recommend Dr. John Baker in Little Rock... Joy

Yes, I highly recommend Dr. John Baker, He is the best in the state of Arkansas. I had my surgery on February 21, 2005 and as of today I have had no problems at all. I did exactly what he said and believe me that is the key trick to this surgery, doing exactly what he says. I faithfully take my vitamins every day and I exercise and I drink plenty of water. I was weighing 389 when I went in the hospital for surgery and as of today I weigh 245 pounds. I feel and I not to brag but I also look great. If you would like to talk to me more about this e-mail me @ [email protected] Good Luck
