I have been thinking about the WLS and researching extensively. I've almost come to the conclusion that I'm a coward. I had a total hysterectomy about a year ago and from the research I have done, THAT surgery was a piece of cake compared to the weight loss surgery. I'm a smoker too ...what effect will that have on WLS? Scared in the Mountains

You will need to quit smoking. I had a hysterectomy and WLS all at the same time, both open. That was in March. I have done great and have NO regrets about either one. I feel at least 10 years younger. I think it is because we look at WLS as "elective" that it is so frightening. The truth is that the alternative unhealthy lifestyle is not a good alternative! Joy

Besides the obvious, it's bad for my health...would I really HAVE to quit? If so how come?
