Turned away by AR Rehab
I had an appointment with AR Rehab today (Little Rock office). My appointment was at 10:00, and I was in the car leaving the parking lot at 10:04. The counselor told me that they're not approving wls for anyone. 
He said I could go to some program in Hot Springs, but I'd have to move there for a year. Or, I could do the liquid diet thing at UAMS. His recommendation was that I apply for Social Security Disability and Medicaid. He said that there was some initiative going on where anyone *****ceives Social Security Disability can have wls through Medicaid. He said to call him and tell him how it goes with the SSA. I have no idea why I would need to call him back.

It's time to play HARD BALL!!!! DON'T YOU GIVE UP GIRL! I'm going to give you the e-mail address to John W. Wyvill. He is the big wig for Arkansas Rehab. I will also give you the phone #. You e-mail him and give him you health info and have family and friends e-mail him also and call him. Let him know exactly what your councelor said to you. Let him know exactly how you feel and about you health. This is what I did and my mother was the straw that broke the camles back. She was Mad as hell and she called him and Told him is they screwed around and I died becasue of there stupidity she would sue them and call Congress. Well the rest is history. I had my surgery and Arkansas Rehab paid for it. So don't give up. If anything in the world is worth fighting for it is this. Try these Guy's.

I know what you're going through, sweetie!
Like Debbie, I was also turned down by AR Rehab, and I fought back. My hubby had his first, and it took us nearly a year to get his approval, it took me almost two years to get mine. AR Rehab turns EVERYONE down unless you fight back. I was denied four times and almost ended up with my legs amputated because of it.
I wrote a letter to Mike Huckabee complaining about AR Rehab and detailed my experience and my severe health problems, and had my doc sign a letter stating all of my health problems, and Huckabee had John Wyvill contact me the very next day. I was still turned down, and then my hubby who was mad as HELL, called Wyvill and said things similar to what Debbie said her mother did in the above post. Anyway, I was approved the very next day. I had my surgery a month later.
DON'T GIVE UP -- your health is all you really have in this world. This program is there to help people, and you deserve the benefits of it as much as anyone else.
I can email you a sample of the letter I wrote to them if you want, you'll just have to change the details and make it fit your situation.
