It has been 10 weeks and I have lost only 40 lbs. Is that slow? The last 3 weeks I have only lost 4 lbs. Is this normal?

Hey Carolyn, Some people are just slow loosers, but that is ok. YOU will get there. Put the scales up and concentrate on doing 60 grams of protein and as few carbs as you can. Do not forget your water and exercise. Also, start keeping a food diary and review this with your nutritionist. I am sure he or she will better be able to assess what you are doing and what you need to do. With all this said, 40lbs is good. Could you loose 40 lbs in 10 weeks without your new tool? I know I could not. Congrats Tweedy

Your BMI is at the lower range of the criteria for this surgery. People with less to lose will lose more slowly, but you have not stopped losing. Our age and history of losses/regains also seems to affect the speed of loss. But, although your losing will not be as fast after 3 months as it was the first month, you will continue losing if you continue doing the right things. I am 5 months post op and have lost 54 lbs, so your loss does not sound bad to me. I am losing at the rate of 5-10 lbs per month now, and that is fine. That was as much as I could lose on a best month of dieting before! If you seem to be stalling out, try increasing your protein and exercise. That helps me. Good luck! Joy
