self pay
Angie,
I was a self pay also. My total cost was just over $12,000. I used Dr. John W. Baker in Little Rock. He's the best in my opinion. I had my surgery on Jan. 14, 03. I've lost 170 lbs so far. I'd like to lose 30 lbs more, but I'm more than happy where I am. I hope you find the right Dr. for you. Dr. Baker was just the Dr. I needed. He didn't tell me what I "wanted" to hear, he told me everything. I respect him even more for that. I've had no complications, and I enjoy my life soooooooooo much more now.

Lorinda,
Thank you so much for telling me. I had no idea Dr. Baker did self pay. He was my first pick, I dont know why I did not think to call his office and ask. Can you please email me at [email protected] I would like to know some more of the financial information.

Hi Angie,I, too, am a selfpay.Dr. Kerry Ozment also does it selfpay and from what I understand, his pretesting is much easier and in cluded in the price. From what Ive heard, Dr. Baker makes you jump through alot of hoops before he will even schedule a consult.Dr. Ozment is in LR. His website is www.stvincentobesitysurgery.com. Im going for my free seminar with Dr. Ozment on Aug.17th.You can learn alot about him through his website. Also, I think he or the hospital will let you pay half in payments.Get the phone number from the website and then talk to Judy. His office staff is the best to deal with.Hope this helps
HI Cathy,
Thank you for responding. You are right Dr. Baker does make you jump through hoops. Becky at his office was sure to tell me " he wont just see any body", she also added, " he has 35 people that have that have mailed in their paperwork, that he has yet to review, to decide if he will even see at this time." That is when my search took a different route. I have found Dr. Luttrell. His office staff is very nice and I have a consult on Tuesday, July 6, and have a tentative surgery date of August 9th. I hope by these postings that it will help others on the road to a healty life. Thanks again for your help. ( how about st. vincent's do you have any information on that? the reviews i have read were mixed to say the least)
I know you were wondering about lap in an earlier post. I emailed you??? Nonetheless, you cannot have the surgery lap at St. Vincent, they are not set up for it there.
Not sure how they treat obese patients. However, the head nurse on the gastric bypass unit at baptist, has had the surgery herself (15 years ago) and has recently began a support group that meets each month. She is wonderful and is just a real champion of the cause. Appropriate beds, gowns, chairs and the works on her unit.

Angie, I had my surgery with Dr. Ozment. He is totally awesome. He takes self-pay. My cost in May was 15,000.00. (for just about everything) Look at his site and you will see what you need. Angie all I did was set up the date with Judy and had the surgery. See my profile and it will explain everything. Brenda in Tx! Yea... you read it right...I live in Tx and I drove 8 hours just to have him do my surgery. Bye
