AR Rehab Questions

I'm considering re-opening my file with Arkansas Rehab. I initially dealt with them at the end of 2002, beginning of 2003. I had a horrendous experience and ended up letting my file get closed. If you want to read about my experience, read the entries at the pages listed below. But, basically, it came down to my couselor refusing to pay for anything, but requiring everything. For example -- she wanted me to have professional counseling, a sleep study, and a consult with a surgeon. But, I would have to pay for it all myself -- with no job and no insurance at the time. Well, I'm covered under my mother's insurance now (QualChoice, state employee). It has an exclusion. So, I was thinking that I could get some of the things that I couldn't previously. I called my PCP's referral office today and got a referrel to have a sleep study. But, here's the problem/question: Can I request a different counselor at Arkansas Rehab? Has anyone had any success at the Little Rock office? Anyone have any pointers when dealing with them? The Saga of my experience with AR Rehab... http://ganell.diaryland.com/021212_3.html http://ganell.diaryland.com/021213_84.html http://ganell.diaryland.com/030313_41.html http://ganell.diaryland.com/030402_18.html http://ganell.diaryland.com/030407_67.html

Hi Ganell, I also went through AR rehab, and it was a horrible experience. I am grateful that they helped me, but they sure didn't make it easy. I was denied four times over a sixteen month period, and I ended up writing a letter to the governor's office complaining about my treatment. I was put in touch with John Wyvil, and he put me in touch with Janet Hooks, the district manager for my area. I don't have her phone number, she actually called me after Mr. Wyvil told her to. Anyway, after speaking with Ms. Hooks, she encouraged me to write a letter detailing everything that was wrong, and I sent it to her. The very next day, Mr. Wyvil called me and told me I was approved. I was so happy my sixteen month ordeal with dealing with them was finally over. I just didn't give up -- I was determined to get this surgery one way or another. I hope this helps. Tammy 373/320/160?
