I am 2 months post op and I just feellike I can eat more than I should be able to this early. I can eat 2 taco's, almost a 6 inch sub just few bites shy , and a bigger just not the bun. I have lost about 40 pounds total and it dont seem to be mu*****hes. I thought the first few months were the months you lost the most weight and then it slowed down. I worry that something is wrong with me and I amdoing something wrong. I try to walk 1 1/2 miles a day. This past week only walked on sunday since I started a new job and was to tired after working 9 hrsa day. Any advice appreciated here......

Hi Diane. I am 5 weeks post-op and the food portions you are mentioning do seem awfully large to me, but they are still very small compared to what you could have eaten pre-op. To put things into perspective......Pre-op, I could eat 6 tacos in one sitting.......or a foot-long sub........or 2 double cheeseburgers with fries and a large coke. Have you talked to your doctor or nutritionist? Maybe they can shed some light on why your pouch is handling these amounts of food so early out. Regardless, your weight loss and exercise are both GREAT! You should be proud of what you've already accomplished! Shelli

Your weight loss seems to be pretty much on target. At 2 months I had lost only 38 lbs and was worried it wasn't enough. Now at 9 1/2 months, I've lost 105 lbs. I'm happy with that. As far as the portions, you are eating more than I was able to at that point, but you have to remember, sometimes when you think you probably had enough, just stop. You'll be surprised at how full you feel. Also, remember with RNY you only absorb half of what you eat. Don't get discouraged and keep up the good work.

Hey Diane! YOU GO GIRL!! YOU'RE LOSING -- THAT'S WHAT'S IMPORTANT. I think you are right on target with the weight lost. I am seven weeks post op, only a week less than you, and I've lost 43 lbs., so that's pretty close. I don't eat nearly as much as what you described, though. Everyone is different, though. I would do what the previous poster said and try to limit how much you take in, maybe you could weigh it or something. I hope this helps!! I think you are doing AWESOME!! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!! I think you are doing fine. You lost really fast at the beginning, which is why you are feeling the slow down now. Your body is just catching up. Reduce the carbs and be patient--the loss happens in spurts. 40 lbs is something to celebrate! Joy -41

Diane, You are losing fine. I just can't believe at 2 months out you can eat taco's. I couldn't and I still don't I will eat the inside for protien, But I won't touch the shell. and I do not eat bread at all or potoatoes. I always eat my protien first and then my veggies, If I have room! I can eat about 3 oz tuna and about 3 crackers but I will be 8 months out Sat. I've lost 166 Lbs. I would talk to your Dr. I don't think there is anything wrong. But he can explain to you whats going on. Hugs and best wishes on your journey. Debbie Moya Dr. Baker 9/22/03 354/188/147
