Help, I need encourgement!!!

My name is Brenda and I live in Tx. I am traveling 8 hours just to have my surgery with Dr. Ozment. I am self pay and his cost is much, much cheaper than around here. Can anyone that has had surgery with Dr. Ozment please tell me about him. I have read everything on his sight,...I guess I am just looking for something fresh. I have not even met him and will only meet him for the first time the day before my surgery. I am not so much nervous about the surgery as I am about an 8 hour trip back a couple of days after surgery. Has anyone else experienced this? Will I be pushing it to try and travel so far so soon after? My husband of course will be driving me. I am getting frightened. My e-mail address is [email protected]

Brenda, Hun I live in Arkansas so I didn't really have to travel. I didn't use Dr. Ozment, But I hear great things about him. I do know My surgeon said If you live more than an hour away, You will have to get out of the car and walk around it every hour. So make sure you do this, It is very Important not to ride more than an hour without stopping and walking around your car. You will do great! I know this may not help much, But if there is anything I can do to encourage you any more please let me know. You might consider planning to make the trip to Spring in 2 days, stopping about half way. Make sure you have plenty of liquids and protein powder with you on the trip. The reason for the stopping to walk every hour is to prevent clots from forming. That is very important. Even between stops, try to flex your feet every few minutes so blood does not pool there. Take an extra pillow to use under the seat belt. You will be fine. Joy

Hi Brenda, I am having surgery on the 13th w/ Dr Ozment also. I met him at his seminar and I really liked him. He is kind of straight speaking and doesn't sweeten things up if you know what I mean. I have known others that got a little offened about some of the things he says, or more the way he says them, but I appreciated it myself. Of course, I have a little bit of a low brow sense of humor and don't offend easily, but that is the only thing negative I can say about him, and to me it wasn't even negative. What I can say that is positive is this, at the seminar, he stayed and answered all our questions, and even tho some folks did ask kind of silly questions, like the ones that had they been listening, they would have realized he already covered that issue, he never acted like any question was too silly or not pertinent. I am a question girl, so i really appreciated that. Good luck to you, Kaylin

Hey, Brenda! I'm so happy for you and am glad that you got a quick surgery date. Well, you know my situation - I will be traveling 4 hours back to Tulsa after surgery. I plan to stop and walk (and pee, probably)! Someone mentioned stopping and spending the night half-way on your trip home. That might not be a bad idea. I guess you will just have to see how you are feeling. I have told you my impression and feelings for Dr. Ozment - he is great! Brenda, I had surgery in Aug and my daughter on March 16th with Dr. Ozment. He is a wonderful doctor and believe me he knows what is going on. He has had so much experience with this surgery. As far as traveling--well its hard. I traveled 4 hours home on a Friday after surgery on tues in a motorhome. It was realky hard, So with my daughter we came home in a SUV and it was really hard on her. She couldn't get out of the car so we drove really fast and just came home. I would probably just take 2 days to get home if I were to do it again. I know on Sat I felt like a real person and on Sun I felt well! If you have any questions, let me know. I have my own experience and also was there for my daughter.It was a lot harder watching her than it was when I had surgery!!!
