Dr Laffoon Russellville or Dr Campbell in Hot Springs

I am looking into a Lap Band. I live in NE Arkansas and due to insurance I am required to use a Triad Hospital. So far, I have found Dr Laffoon in Russellville and Dr Campbell in Hot Springs. Both would be about 4 hours away from home and I am looking for any advice/ experience that anyone has had with either of these 2 physicians. I have an appointment in Hot Springs on the 21st but have reservations due to not being familiar with the surgeon. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

hey I used dr Lafoon on 3/22 he was great but my insicion is 10 inches long and has like 33 staples in it!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ask away I have lost 15 pounds in 10 days and all went well.

I am looking into lap band. How long is the wait for appointments and how long out do they scheduled the surgery? Do they seem to have good after care? Thanks for all your help Christi

I used Dr. Laffoon on the 8th of last month. I found him to be a wonderful surgeon. I don't know anything about Dr. Campbell, but my wife works at the same clinic as Dr. Laffoon and their are about 8 people that works there that he's worked on. I hope that this helps in some way. I'm 42 lbs, in less than 4 weeks and I'm loving it. Shannon

If you are considering a Lap Band, please do your research on the surgeons. A friend of mine was talking to a RN in Russellville and she stated that more than a couple of Lap Bands that Dr. Laffoon has done have had to be removed. Diane and Shannon both had rny surgery. i have had a slight problem with my incision built up some fluid so I see DR Laffon every week and he is great!!!!!!!!!! I would say his after care is great he seems to know his stuff. My scar is pretty much healed and you barley notice it I am 3 weeks out today. I got my surgery date within like 30 days.

The lap band has both good points and bad points. Do the research on both the rny and the band. Also check out to see if the surgeon is a general surgeon or board certified in bariatric surgery. Not all surgeons are board certified in bariatrics. But,I would not have this risky and rewarding surgery by anyone but a bariatric board certified surgeon, not just a general surgeon. Also, if you want help with the research just email me and I will gladly call you. Just be patient with me I have 3 kids and my hands are full!!! LOL!! I also live with a man that sells twinkies for a living. That is true, not just a sick joke!!! I work for a potato chip company!! LOL
