Do any of you have veinous statice (sp?) Anyway, it is these sores on my legs that won't heal and weep fluid all the time. My legs are red and swollen on the bottom part. I went to my pcp and he got me a RX for gradual support stockings. These things cost me $65! I tried useing them and they gave me a horrible rash. No matter what I did they gave me this horrible itchy rash, red, whelpy legs. I have an appointment with a plastic surgeon in a few weeks. But what can I do now? This is so miserable. My legs hurt all the time. It is so hard to sleep. I can't lay down and breathe so putting them up above the heart is not really a viable option for me. I have an appointment with the Rehab person in the morning. I have a letter form my pcp, pulmonologist, and sleep study specialist. My allergist won't give me one. Says he doesn't do letters. ( for some reason) This person would probably do me the most good as it is my asthma that origonally made me stop working in the first place. I simply wanted him to state that if I lost a lot of weight it would help with my asthma. That should be a no brainer. I mean of course someone is going to breath better with two hundred or more excess pounds taken off their body. I just really don't understand why he has a problem with letters. Oh well, I guess I will just do my best. I am going to take pictures of my legs to send with the letters. As I was actually diagnosed with this since the letters were written. Even though the rehab doctor saw the beginings of this when I saw her. So any ideas would be so appreciated with this. Anything to ease the pain? Oh, I have been on this low carb diet for nine days now. I have lost 7 pounds. I know it is not even a drop in the bucket I still have 42 pounds to loose before I can be weighed on human scales. Still it was nice to see the numbers go down instead of up.

Hi Bonnie, I would call my pcp back and tell him that the socks made it worse. Sounds like you might need antibiotics or at least be seen by someone who can see if you need them. Yipppppppeeeeeeeeee for losing 7 lbs. Thats great!!!! Am on my way to the hospital in about 30 minutes here this morning, but will be praying for you that you get relief for your legs. God bless you, Dodie

With your issues, you should not need a letter, but if you do, call his office and tell his nurse that if he can't do a simple thing like that for the health benefit of a patient, that you will look elsewhere for a doctor. Offer to write the letter for his signature, but you will have to pick up some of his stationary to use. Meanwhile, see if your primary care doctor will write a letter about the asthma and your leg problems. In the letter, state what medications you are taking for the asthma and even medicated what impact it has on your quality of life (unable to work). And that with the surgery it is reasonable to assume that you would be able to resume working and even reduce the dependence on medication. Good luck! I know that you need this and that the process seems impossibly slow. But many of us have successfully made it through. You can too. Joy
