Challenge to Central Ark

Whether you are pre op or post op, exercise is important. I am so thankful to report that I just hiked up to the 5th marker on Pinnacle Mt -- 16 days post op!! I plan to make the top by 4/1. If I can do it, you can. The weather is perfect. Take your time, but get moving!!! Joy -19 lbs / 16 days

Joy, That's GREAT! I hike to the falls on Petit Jean 6 weeks post op. That is 2 miles down and 2 miles back up the mountain. Luv & Hugs, Karin 374/257/165

That is a great hike too. Right now I'm afraid to try one that is downhill first because I might not make it back! But I'll have to go do that one later this spring! Joy

Joy, That is Great! I couldn't do that at my 16 day's out. Just becarful and don't do to much to fast or you will pay for it later. I know I've been there and done that. Congrats Joy. I am going to have to accept your challenge. I just got my date Wed.,July 14. But I am going to have to loose about 15-20lbs so that I can have my surgery lap. Going to start today! Congrats again!

If you start exercising regularly preop it will make it SO much easier to bounce back post op. I'm so excited for you! Joy

Good for Joy. I've been keeping up with you because you are closer to my age. I am 56 and want this surgery so bad. There has been some complications with 4 of the 12 they have done at NW Medical Center and the program was put on hold. Well, it's back on now. You've been my inspiration. The doctor just called and I have a date of April 27th. We'll see! Glenn

That complication rate concerns me too. I'd want a detailed explanation of what happened with each. Some people are known high risk going in, but that should not account for 33%. That is a small sample size, but be sure to check it out, both the doctor and the hospital. If in doubt, go elsewhere. WLS should not carry that kind of risk! Joy
