I'm trying desperately to help my nephew find a Dr. that will do surgery on him. He lives in N. Missouri, but he's on Medicaid and so many Dr's. aren't taking Medicaid, or they say he lives too far away. But, someone said perhaps there were Dr's in Ar. that would take him. Has anyone used Medicaid with a Dr. in N. Ar.? He is 34 and weighs approx. 700. I fear for his life. Thank you for any help.

Kay, I don't know of any doctors in N Ark, but I know my surgeon takes patients from all over the country. Your nephew will have to be willing and able to stay here for an certain period of time. The surgeon requires this. His name is Dr John W Baker. You can e-mail him through his web-site: www.obesity-surgery.net. I hope this helps and I pray that your nephew finds a surgeon soon. Thank you, Karin, thank you, so much! I've emailed Dr. Baker to see if he accepts Medicaid. And good luck to you! Kay

Kay, you might check with Dr. Galvin at UAMS. Its a teaching hospital and they might be more likely to approach a case like this. He did my surgery and I did fine. I don't know if he will answer an email or not, but here is his email and his phone number. Good luck Daniel Galvin 501-296-1170 [email protected]

I am on medicaid and Dr. Greg Laffoon in Russellville was my surgeon. Everyone in his office is wonderful and won't treat you any differently because of Medicaid. His office number is 1-479-968-2345. Good luck to you.

You might try Doc Lambert in Batesville, Ar. He may take medicaid. He info is on the Ar surgeons page. I live in WEst Plains, Mo and there are about 8 of us who have used Doc Lambert with good results. Attend a support group meeting too. We have a meeting the third thursday of the mont at 7 pm at Behavioral Healthcare in West Plains.
