Hi! I'm new here!

I am so thrilled to stumble into this site. I really need some support in this adventure. I am at the final "pulling the papers together to submit the insurance application" stage of planning WLS with Dr. John Baker. I live in Little Rock. I would love to get to know others at various stages of this experience. It is so exciting and frightening all at the same time! I'm glad to not find myself so alone. I do not personally know a single person who has had this surgery! Thanks! Joy

hello joy, i am amanda, i live in gurdon. i had wls on 9-30-03, and i used dr. baker. he was a little unbearable at first. but i just love him to death, he is great at his job. so you are in good hands. i am 3.5 months out and have lost 63 lbs. when are you suppose to have surgery? the first 10 days are the worst after that it gets better. just remember to walk and sip water slowly. take care and god bless- amanda

They won't schedule my consult until we hear back from the insurance. I have met with Becky several times, but not Dr. B yet. That is making me feel a bit insecure, but I hear good about him from the community. I am hoping for a Feb/Mar date. At this point I have no real fears or dread of the surgery itself--just fears that either I won't get to have it or that I won't be able to lose or keep it off...

Joy, Welcome to the site. You will be able to find out alot from this site. Remember After surgery to Walk, Walk, Walk. And Water, Water, Water. At St. Vincents hospital they have a support group meeting every 3rd thursday of the month. I think it starts at 5:30pm. and people usualy show up at all times. It is in another surgeons office, It is also for every body. Pre-Op's and Post-Op's. I've been there 2 times. And I liked it. All you do is ask Qestions and all the others will try and help you.
