How many of you are in NW arkansas?
Well, I am going to the dr. and the insurance tomorrow. I talked to a nurse at NW Medical today that had the RNY and she is exstatic. She has done very well. She told me about a Dr. Alston at the springdale surgical clinic. Also a Dr. Omen. I am checking in on them tomorrow. And with my insurance. I am 39 and have a 48 BMI I am desperate. I have 2 boys 1 19 in the ARMY and 1 11 in middle school. A very devoted husband through thick and thin. Maybe you and I can be Buddies through this. I lost my Mom a few months ago and have been severely depressed and found all the comfort food I could. Anyway, If you are interested Reply....good Luck...God Bless...Kellsis
Teresa,
I had surgery in Aug. and have done exceptionally well. Remember this is your life and its most important to get a very good doctor and have to drive alittle than one close to home. You need to go somewhere where they know how to treat obese patients and their needs. My doctor is very experienced and has done over 7500 surgeries and I would highly recommend him. His name is Dr. Ozment and his office is in Little Rock attached to St. Vincent Hospital. Please be very selective because this is a very serious surgery. Check the success and failure rate of every doctor and read all the posts before m making up your mind. Good Luck--Vicki/Bentonville
To all of you NW AR. folks...I too live in NW AR., Bethel Heights to be exact. I do not think there is an MD in this area who does WLS. There is a Dr Janes in Ft Smith who does open RNY but if you want lap RNY you must go to LR or Tulsa. I had lap RNY 8/03 with Dr Galvin at UAMS. My experience has been very good. I started with a bmi of 44 and have lost 60 lbs. My wt has come off slower but I have NEVER vomited, my labs are normal and I can eat anythin, steak, salads, veggies...etc. just MUCh smaller portions. There is a support group in this area that meet 2nd Sunday at 2pm at St Mary's Hospital for all interested.
