Karen Church update Angel on duty
Well I finally talked to Karen's husband (Steve) today on the phone. The Monday before Christmas they told him to call in the family because they didn't think she would make it. Steve got a second opinion and got rid of the other surgeon. Last weekend he said she started making alot of progress towards her recovery. They had called in a lung specialist. She still has the Trach (sp?) in for the Pnemonia(sp?) wich means they have her on a respirator but he said she has improved with it. They also still have her sedated because of the trach otherwise she would be uncomfortable. For those of you who don't know what happened Karen had open RNY, Hernia repair. She had a leak with her new pouch so they went back to surgery and repaired that. It went down hill from there they had problems with blood oxygen, blood pressure then she developed an infection and had alot of fluid on her lungs. Karen has been one sick lady for the last 4 weeks. She had surgery on 12/4/03 and even though she is doing a little better she could possibly be in the hospital another month or so. Steve was very greatful for all the warm wishes and prayers that have been sent out from this website. I will try to update again as soon as I can. It might be awhile since my surgery is this wednesday but I will try to update before then if I can. Please keep this wonderful lady in your thoughts and prayers. I told Steve God must still have plans for her if she has made it this far. Thanks Everyone for all you do. Happy New Year Nikki
Nikki,
Tank God he got that second opinion. I don't know Karen, but have been quietly following her progress through post here. I say an extra prayer for her every night and am glad to see she is doing a little better. I will pray that your surgery goes well next week. Thanks for keeping us updated on Karen and don't forget to let us know how you are doing.
Prayers & Hugs, Karin
Nikki,
Thank you so for updating. It just kills my soul to know she and her family are going through so much. She is truley a tough woman. It also makes me remember when Dr. Baker said this is a very dangerous surgery and there is a chance you may not make it. I made it pretty good, I guess those of us who did make it without any poblems should really get down on our knees and thank GOD everyday. Please let her family know we will all pray for her recovery and you are exaclly right GOD has a big plan for her.
Huggs and much love for you a special angel and her family
