Hi All, It's that time again. Yes, for me to vent. My support systems are in order, my weight is pulling off fast, but fast in who's eyes? Not mine that is for sure. Oh you look so good, to who? Not me. I know you feel good, No not really. Sure I can eat just about anything and not get sick, at least for now. Be thankful they say, oh but I am thankful. So what are you trying to say they ask? I am doing this thing because I have no choice at his point I say. But in the meantime can anybody tell me when does it get better. I have talked with my therapist, I have talked with my Lisa C. I have talked with Lisa D. I have talked with Wendy, I have talked with Debbie and tons of others. But when do I feel better I ask. Now what I need to know is the real deal. I need to talk to someone who is having the emotional difficulties that I am having. I am not sure what is wrong, is it just me, am I the only one that feels this way. I mean I read post after post after post and I hear all the glitz and glamour, but I have yet to come across anyone that has really displayed any real emotional trauma. If you are out there please respond because I need to talk. If you do not wanna tell your story on air please email me privately. I just need to know am I the only person that feels this way. I can give very good advice, and I can give lots of support and say encouraging things and mean them from the bottom of my heart, but I can not take my own advice, I am terrible at being my own support person. I am not trying to scare and new post ops or pre ops, this does not affect everybody the same, but for me it is beyond anything I could have evr conceived mentally and before I loose my mind I just need to know is it me? Am I the only person that feels this way? Adrienne

I think maybe you are too obsessed with the scales. I am a male and I have noticed most females obsess about seeing weight coming off daily, I say dont worry. If you are getting your protien and water and some exercise THE WEIGHT WILL COME OFF. Weight only weekly or monthly and relax. The wls makes it easier to enjoy life. If you are not getting enough quality protien you will feel lousy. When I got to the soft food phase an could eat poultry and seafood I felt much better. I have heart failure and was advised by my docs not to have wls. They thought I would die on the operating table, but I survived. My fitst 2 weks were very rough. I had major constipation and I thought I would die, but I didnt. Now I can eat anything even sugar and I dont dump. We didnt gain our weight overnight and we wont lose it overnight. I have been on every diet know and if I was lucky lost 25-50 pounds in six months. I had surgery 10-1-03 and am down 50 pounds. Many people have lost faster so what. I have never lost this fast before. If your behavior and habits are good THE WEIGHT WILL HAVE TO GO. We now eat like little skinny old ladies so our bodies will eventually catch up. Some lose faster than others, that is just a fact. The slow losers dont post as much as the fast losers. Reas pouch rules for dummies on Bypass Buddies, follow those rules and you will lose Good Luck David A satisfied wls post op

You are not alone. I am having the very same problems. The weight may be coming off but not fast enough. I am having all the same issues as you but I haven't found a cure yet. I do know that I have a hard time feeling good and offering good support for other people who are losing faster than they thought. I have people who have had surgery at the same time as me and they have already lost more than I have in the second month. All I can say is hang in there, they tell me it will get better???. Adrienne, Hello this is Debbie. I just wanted to tell you I also did go through the depression. I Cried and I was upset all the time. I called my surgeon and asked him if I was going crazy. I really thought I was going crazy. I was so depressed, I can't even begain to tell you how I felt. Dr. Baker said my body is going through a lot of changes very quickley and this is to be expected. I was crying when I called my surgeon. Well I feel a lot better now. I guess it was about 4 or 5 weeks before my depression got better. I sure hope this helps. Oh yea my Dr. also put me on Effexor. So that could also be some help. Hugs Debbie Moya

Hi Adrienne I just want to say that I can understand how you feel...I am not losing wt as fast as I had hoped I would and certainly not as fast as most people. I had surgery 8/12/03 and I am down 43 lbs. But I am trying to not get hung up on the scales...the weight will come off. Please do try to get in enough protein...if you are low on protein you will not feel good. Also, talk with your MD about how you are feeling, I do think some depression is normal. We have just had a MAJOR shock to our bodies with this very big surgery and new way to eat. We have also lost a comfort tool we used for many yrs...food! Please let me know how you are doing. I will say a prayer for you. D'Etta
