weight loss past the first month!
To all my WLS sisters....I am hearing what each of you are saying, Amanda, Denise, Stephanie...and Nita...my sister who has walked this path ahead of us all. I am 3 months post op...saw Dr Galvin yesterday and am down 40 lbs...not much some might say. But I am not carrying that 40 lbs any longer. I started with a bmi of 44, so maybe was a "light weight" lol! But we will all loose at our own pace. I am down from a 26 straight skirt to an 18 so inches are coming off. My labs are all normal, I have lost no hair and have never vomited. I can even eat red meat and salad. Dr Galvin told me yesterday I was doing this right..taking supplements, getting all protein and not over eating. Nita...I keep remembering you say..."do not worry, the surgery will work" So I am being thankful for the 40 lbs gone and my good health...while I wait for more wt to come off. Lets all support ea other in our quest to better health.
It took a while to put on the weight. It will take a little while to take it off.
The biggest factor I found in early losing was protein and water along with frequency of meals.
Trying to get at leat 45 to 60g of protein a day minimum plus my 64+ oz of water was a chore, but I did fairly well.
I noticed when I lacked one or the other, that my losing would slow down. I also found that by eating sevearl smaller meals rather than 3 larger ones, my body seemed to burn fat better.
I guess it has something to do with the famine response your body switches to if you don't eat frequently enough. Sounds totally wrong to eat more to lose more, but it does work.
Try doubling your protein intake and more water for a week or two and see what happens.
Just a thought.
