Gerald,
That's great! The main thing I have to say is Walk, Walk, Walk, As soon as possiable. I had open RNY so mine was a little diffrent. But I do know be carfull when first taking in liquids. When I was in hospital I Walked every time I thought about it. And after I walked I set up in chair for a little while then I would lay down for a few. Then start all over again. The thing that drove me nuts was the tube in my stomach. I had it because of sleep apnea.
I wish you all the luck on your journey and I will pray for you to have a Great recovery.
Hugs Debbie
Gerald, I'm glad your getting close to your surgery. I had LAP RNY at UAMS and I have had no problems. You just need to be sure and get up and walk as soon as they will let you after surgery. This will help you a lot. Go by the diet your doctor prescribes for you. Don't pay any attention to the messages that others post about eating a hamburger, etc., the day after surgery. You need to do exactly what your personal doctor says. Every doctor is different in what he wants you to eat afterwards. Get plenty of water in every day. This means constant sipping, all day long, from the time you get up until you go to bed. Put the water beside the bed, also, in case you get thirsty in the night. I used bottles of water so I could keep up with how much I was drinking, instead of having the water in a glass, etc. I drank protein drinks constantly. I have done well. Lab work looked good when I had it done. I take Flintstone complete vitamins. My doctor told me to use them and Tums for the calcium. Other doctors go ballistic when they hear that, but again, doctors are different. Hang in there and let me know if I can help you.
