HI! I was approved by my insurance by nothing less than a miracle!! I am going with Dr Baker and I am having my blood work done, what is the normal length of time before we actually schedule the consultation and eventual surgery?? I am so excited about being able to have this done, definitely an answer to prayers. Also. regaurding the surgery, which is best to have the epidural or the morphene drip? THANKS FOR THE HELP EVERYONE YOU GUYS ARE GREAT!! Jennifer in Benton :D

First of all- Congratulations on your approval! The waiting time depends on how long a pre-op list the doctor has. If he has several, it may be the first of next year before you get scheduled. I personally had the morphine drip, but I didn't use it. I am a maverick, I guess. I tried deep breathing whenever I hurt, (you know- in through the nose and out through the mouth), and the pain got better. I have heard that the epidural is the way to go. Only one negative on the epidural was when someone said the medication ran out and the nurse's didn't catch it and she hurt terribly for about 3 hours. This was one of Dr. Baker's patients. I don't know if he ever found out about the foul-u*****t. Feel free to ask questions, there are lots of us who have already been through this. Again- CONGRATULATIONS!!!

THANKS YOU GUYS!! I am so excited; I can hardly wait! I am so glad that I found this board, everyone is so positive and willing to give advise! Thanks for all the info, I am sure I will be lurking here for a long while to come! Is anyone here from the Little Rock, Benton/Bryant area? Is there a support group started near us? I would love to meet and greet those in my surrounding area, and maybe make a few new life long pals! Take care and you all have a wonderful day! THANKS-JEN

Congrats. Jennifer, It should go pretty Quick now. As far as the Epidural or Morphene drip go. I Talked to the anistisiolagist And he said it all depends Because the Epidural only deadens the nerve to stop the pain. The morphene drip is a drug which will make you feel kind of druged and out of it a lot. So I picked the Epidural. Hugs Debbie

Jennifer, I am so glad you got approved!!!! :clap I got approved today too!!!!!! Ain't it great....!!!? I am so thankful I am from Pine Bluff and they said it would probably be the 4th of Dec. I guess it's according to the Dr. schedule... I think everyone has their preferences for Morphine or epidural but I really prefer the morphine... I think!! Anyway-please lets keep each other posted..May be together in the hospital--you never know!! Karen PS: Dr Wellborn is my Dr.
