Stephanie Hang in there, you WILL loose more weight. I too have been a "slow looser". I had my GBS on 8/12 and am only down 35lbs. I weighed 264 pre-op...like you, I did not start out at 350 lbs. It is all relative, the higher your starting weight the quicker you loose. My MD told me "normal weight loss was 1/2 to 1 lb per day". I am averaging the 1/2 lb. per day and you are doing better than that. I am loosing inches as I can get in to jeans 3 sizes smaller. We need to not be so hard on our self. I have had moments of despair...is this gonna work for me? Why did I have this surgery? etc. But I have lost almost 30% of wt I needed to loose to get at my goal wt of 140. You need to look at the total picture, where are you in comparison to your goal, how much total body wt have you lost and how do you feel. I will continue to cheer you on...we will make it to goal, this will work for us!! D'Etta

Stephanie, be sure and tell your doctor how you are feeling. Write down the things that are happening, if you need to, so you don't forget to tell him everything. Also, friend to friend, you might talk to him about depression. A lot of post-ops have had it, myself included. On the nausea issue, I too felt like that at times. (Still do occasionally, if I eat really sweet food). I could eat something one day and be okay, and eat the same thing the next day and get queasy. I have never vomited, but I have been queasy more than a few times. My savior were protein drinks. When I couldn't eat, I could drink!! Lastly- The way this surgery is designed, you are going to have to lose weight! There is no way around it. You are having a low spot right now, just like the rest of us did at one time or another. Keep your chin up and stay on the boards here so we can help you. Nita

Amanda, you may end up being "top loser" when we go to the dr Tues. My weight loss has slowed down but I am still losing. I notice on the days that I do not walk, my weight stays steady. Oh well, I am better than I was! Denise

Denise, you are doing great! You've had major surgery, girl, things don't heal up overnight. I know we all feel like we're Superwoman, but sometimes we have to let the healing do its thing. I was losing 15-20 lbs. to other people's 50-75 lbs. I know its frustrating, and I went through it too, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. This surgery is different for everybody. Some of us are slow losers, but we will get to where we want to be. You will have to lose with this surgery. You don't have a choice. This is a big adjustment for your body and it takes a while for it to react in a postive way. When you get to 14-16 months out, you'll be telling someone else, like I'm telling you- that it will be okay. Nita

I'm not a new postop, but I remember at about 2 or 3 weeks out, I hit a plateau too. Don't worry, you'll start losing again. Just keep doing what your doc tells you to.--Shelly
