Losing hope

Hello all, I'm writing in hopes someone might have some suggestions. The company my husband works for is self insured, managed by HealthScope, I have been denied due to a psyc evaluation that the insurance, not my surgeon wanted. I belive that the evaluation came back as it did as an attempt for the dr to earn money on couceling that my insurance doesn't pay for. I ask my pcp for help, he says the surgeon needs to deal with it, I ask the surgeon says my pcp needs to do it, and I tried playing the couceling game, and that was just so stupid, I have it more together then those I spoke with. I don't want to die, but that is what is going to happen if I don't lose weight, and since I can't do it on my own, the surgery seems my only option. I'm begging for someone to please tell me who can help me fight this, there has to be some sort of advocasy group that can offer assistance, but I can't find one, this is my last chance. Have you checked to see if you qualify for Rehab? Several people on this site have tried and successfully achieved surgery through Rehab. Let me know if you have more questions, etc. Maybe I can help. Nita

Have you tried doing another psych exam with someone else? Kinda grasping at straws here, but it might work. Good luck Donna Johns

Jeanette, Hello. I went through Arkansas Rehabilitation. It will take about 6 months to get approved. It you have a BMI if 55 or more and medical problems Then you problably won't have a lot of problems. I even worked and they still helped me. Good Luck on you journey. Hugs Debbie

I work for the State who has excluded gastric by=pass surgery from our contract. A friend of mine who had the surgery told me to go to Arkansas Rehab. which I did . I started this process in February of this year. I have had three back surgeries, and I was looking at a fourth, which My orthopedic Surgeon was very mucu afraid of. I asked him what if I could get a large amount of weight off in a short time. His reply was if I could get the weight off of my spine, that would probably help tremendiously. Like I said I went to Rehab, they were willing to help me with a diet plan but not the surgery. so they denied me. My counselor at Rehab give me the name of a person who would help me get approved.
